If they throw in a couple of Operations it might just have value but for 5 levels of story I'm kinda unimpressed, and I want to know what they will do to address the current level 50 operations becoming obsolete.

Okay so it's "affordable" at £5.99 for UK Subscribers but it leaves a great many questions unanswered.
Mercenary 55 | Assassin 50 | Marauder 50 | Sniper 50 | Operative 55 | Sorcerer 55 | Powertech 51 | Juggernaut 55
Gunslinger 55 | Guardian 55 | Sage 55 | Vanguard 55 | Scoundrel 27 | Commando 22 | Sentinel 22 | Shadow 21

Yeah it's pretty early, lets hope at least more details are released soon. Hopefully a possible flashpoint, operation and maybe even Cathar.

There's a lot of content that was supposed to be included earlier but which has been pushed back to next year, maybe they could include some of it with the expansion, especially the world Varl:

If you'd like to see more Explorable Worlds in Star Wars: The Old Republic,
then head to this thread and discuss, list and vote which you'd like to see and explore in the game:

Chapter 4 is just a generic world story they've rebranded as "Chapter 4". i.e. it's the same story for every class.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

Here's a thought: Judge the damned thing when it's nearly released and you actually know what it's bringing to the table. Just a crazy wild idea, but then again this is an MMO forum those seem to require common sense to stay at least 1,000 feet away.

Supposedly the quests on the planet are actually going to be more telling the world story than one off quests. I'll believe it when I see it, but for the love of god you people can't stop saying the sky is falling.

And wow, and someone just bought GW2? Enjoy that... for about a month. Say what you want about TOR, but I've enjoyed it for the better part of a year. Then again that's just me. GW2 had awful voice acting, terrible story telling, no lightsabers, and every class was pretty damned boring by the time you got halfway through it. I reached a point in the main quest where I pretty much just said "Yeah, I'm done, this is awful."

Story is what keeps me playing a game, not repeating the same boring quests, not grinding for new gear, not having some stupid status symbol to show off. So sue me, I enjoy quality voice acting and some decent storytelling. I didn't sit around in the GW2 forums nonstop going on about all the things I disliked or how I was quitting or blah blah blah.

A sure sign you're getting older: Your tolerance for other people's stupid crap drops to very low levels.
Don't Panic!!

They care if it is worth their time. They care if it is good product.
And a good product is partially judged by value for money. A minor expansion such as this, definitely isn't worthy of 40 bucks. However, 10 bucks? That's fine. It falls perfectly in line with the current DLC approach and quantity of content as seen in non-MMO titles.

Personally, I'm all for smaller scaled expansion modules such as these. As it gives us a better option to choose for the direction the game may have. Do you want more voice acted story content and planets? Invest in this expansion pack! Do you not? Pass on it. Is the next expansion pack a bundle of 8 flashpoints, 2 operations and a set of endgame dailies? Invest in it if you want it, pass on it if you don't.

Rather than having a major expansion pack which just bundles all and doesn't give us the option to pick what we like, and where we want developers to invest more time in, we may now push more influence, using our money only on packs with content we deem important.

Additionally cartel market items are a different breed, you shouldn't even try to attempt to compare their prices. Simply look at the DDE many MMO's offer. Usually around 20 ~ 25$ more expensive, for a handful of crappy items. Yet an expansion pack is then only around 30 ~ 40$, which contains many hours of content. All those single items are truly just extras. They truly shouldn't be attempted to be compared.

You get a new planet! You get a tiny increase in level cap! Woohoo my MMO is getting a content patch.
You get a planet and story content, something which has a different audience than flashpoints and ops, and than warzones. Things they'll most likely desire to keep separate to get a better idea of where they can generate most income, and what makes sense to develop for. Game features, skill trees, talents and quality of life fixes will most likely keep coming outside of these sort of updates, as they'll need to apply to the entire community. You can't segregate a skill tree per planet for example, that simply wouldn't make sense.

EQ1 was the biggest western MMORPG (by far) for 5 years, it was not a failure!

It was a bit Evil, but that's another story.

That content was never supposed to be included yet at any time point. Data mined results are far from indicative of timelines. People honestly should stop using those pages as any form of reference material. It's far from the first time that MMO devs throw in quick ideas or desires into their games out of player bounds. Sometimes it truly becomes something, but often it also gets scrapped.

I'm letting my sub run out, and be done with SWTOR.
Paying for a subscription and a fake expansion with NO CLASS STORY (confirmed by Hall Hood lead writer in his Q&A)? No way.

Good riddance Bioscrooge.

That means it would be on par with alderaan or tatooine in size.
Now, they may be expansive in area size, but i dont find them having enough content for me to be willing to pay 10 bucks for a "new tatooine".
And makeb is supposed to be a city planet from what information ive gathered, so it will be more like coruscant or corellia. And corellia had around 4 levels of content (47-50) meaning it will only be slightly larger in size than corellia is right now if you figure it being a city planet.

Are you really willing to pay 10 bucks (above and beyond your monthly fee) to get access to another corellia?

Im sure not willing to.
I spend more than that a day to eat lunch($10 for the xpac) so to answer that question yes I will. Why because in the end it is cheaper than going to the movies, renting a movie, eating out or one night drinking with the guys.
