Yeah it's fairly easy to get all your medals just running in and taunting everything in sight but being completely unable to kill anything gets boring. That and on my server over 50 PVP is absolutely DOMINATED by the Republic, namely two guilds who stack 4 person premades against randoms, so not only was I not killing anything but every match was just getting rolled over and over. I also hate PVP with a passion and would hate it even if I was a DPS char because MMO PVP is boring to me (someone who prefers shooters for competitive multiplayer). PVE all the way.

I enjoy playing my tank a lot when I have a good group. I don't like queuing with randoms and having people just being idiots and not listening and then whining that I am not tanking right when they are derping around pulling 9 groups at once on Kaon or pulling aggro constantly after I've already used my taunts. Tanking is a thankless job because if you do it right no one will realize how much heat your taking off them and will think it's just their epic DPS or healing that made everything so easy and if you do it wrong (or, more likely, if THEY do something wrong) they will blame you for it. I have a great guild now so I don't have to worry about idiots but there were several times before where I'd have idiot DPSes yelling at me for stuff that wasn't my fault (usually because they were standing in some boss' fire and thinking that meant they had aggro, the example that comes to mind is the first boss on Eternity Vault when he shoots the rockets everywhere and those red circles show up on the ground. Apparently "DON'T STAND IN THE RED CIRCLE I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROTATION" is too complicated for some people) and that just sucks.

Dual spec would be nice or like someone said earlier make tanking vs. DPSing more reliant on stance than gear. Bioware has already tried as hard as it possibly can to make PVP a living hell for PVE players with its idiotic expertise points so not only do tanks have to respec their skills every time they go into PVP but if they are just trying to casually PVP they also need a completely different set of gear which also sucks. I didn't notice leveling being that difficult going full tank but now that people are mentioning it I bet if I rolled a full DPS character (my alt is a healer but like someone said before swapping between healing and DPS is just swapping skills. Swapping tank to DPS requires gear and skills) I would be amazed at how fast I would be getting through stuff.
Jung-Ma I assume.

Thought Tanks ruled in Huttball? Have not really gone to the PVP since my return since I have found PVP in tor laughable and all. Mostly back to get all the story content done and see what happens from there. My "Main" is a Tank Guardian and I do enjoy watching the q pop instantly when I go to do HM FP.

Those who say tanks are worthless in pvp are either clueless or they don't know how to play as a tank. Tanks play an important role in pvp, and it is a necessary requirement to have one especially in rateds.

With the right gear and teammate(s), a Guardian Tank is practically unkillable.
A guide that I can recommend any PvP-Tank (or those who want to become one):
Ladispute's Tank Guide

And for the record:
I'm a convinced Guardian Tank that even tanks PUG WZs with Tanking Gear.
Result (most of the time):
- Can't tou... kill me!*
- Can't kill my guarded healer (as long as I live).
- Highest protection score (often even higher than the score of everyone else together).
- 0 MVPs.

* Well, okay, maybe you can kill me, but only if I'm pulled into a firepit while having a empty resolve bar and getting stunlocked and dps'd down while a/my healer is not in range. Still, even this can take a while.

Thanks.... I may have to give PVP a look see this weekend. I have like 1500 warzone coms to to spend as well.... guessing I should get my chest piece first yes? Have not even looked at the PVP vendors for the last couple of weeks.

Give all the incentive you want, I will not tank for a PUG after this weekend ever again. Tired of PUG DPS wanting to shoot, aoe or run into a room before me and then ***** about why they died and the tank or heals suck. I run with the guild and have no issues what so ever. So from here on out I have sworn off Random PUGs and just run GF with a full guild group and nothing will change my mind from here on out.

Well, the problem with the Guardian Tank is, that the gear has a chaotic distribution of the stats. Like Ladispute discribes in his guide, best stick with the Set Bonus of the Vindicator (DpS) Gear and use the Mods/Enhancements of the War Hero Boots, since Shield- and Absorb-Rating are kind of useless in PvP; you only need Defense-Rating.

So if you already have the Vindicator-Set-Bonus, just start buying 7-9* War Leader Boots and put them into your gear.

* 9 if Belt and Wrist are modabble, too. Otherwise 7 are fine (Head, Chest, Hands, Legs, Boots, Weapon, Offhand).
But I really recommend having a moddable Belt and Wrist Item.
Since Shields have now Armorings, too, you could buy 2 of them and put the Armoring into these two: 100 Expertise at the cost of some health or you just buy the Armorings with Daily-Comms, then you got some more health at the lack of Expertise. Own preference here.

This is the main reason why you don't see a lot of tanks in Groupfinder. It has nothing to do with the spec's viability in PvP and everything to do with whining PuG players who won't take the time to let newer Tanks do their thing and figure stuff out.

My Tanks don't do LFG. I Tank Guild only because I know the people I play with are going to put up with my learning curve without raging that I don't know the fights. Of course I don't know, they are new tanks and I'm still learning them.

I don't even like healing PuGs because I get tired of the whining from DPS that do stupid garbage like pulling multiple groups to the tank or running off ahead and starting fights before the tank is ready to roll.

Basically the lack of Tanks can be laid firmly at the feet of bad PuGs.

This is server issue OP, you make it sound like the entire game suffers from this.

Not really, they just get obliterated by certain spec'd Mauraders...

No kidding, 22k health gone in 2 seconds. I had Kinetic Ward up, no time to get my 2 min clickie on I was dead before I could hit the button.

There is absolutely zero point playing a tank if you can die that quickly, it is the entire point of the class to survive.

Oh and we can't defend at all against Sorcs and their endless freakin lightning spam
Meh...
