I got a quick question here. I had been uploading videos of myself playing star wars the old republic on my youtube channel named KratosAurion9001. The videos being uploaded were unedited in anyway and were just pure gameplay videos

A couple of days ago I had one of my gameplay videos taken down and was given a copyright strike by Sony Music Entertainment due to music that is IN the game. Is this possible? Is Sony Music Entertainment really allowed to just take down regular old unedited Star wars the old republic videos if they wanted to? That's what I am asking here. My account already had a couple copyright strikes on it before this and were set to go away in about 10 more days and this ultimately resulted in my youtube account being deleted which made me pretty angry and wanting to search for answers to this confusing problem. I figure what better place to ask than in the SWTOR customer service forums themselves since youtube was providing me with no help or answers.

You probably can't see the video since it was removed but the video in question is linked here by the way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syosmplJhtM

Sony's SW license expired when SWG did. Sony Classical Records purchased the sales rights to the Star Wars music in 2004 though.

I dont believe in anyway shape or form that EA is leasing intellectual property from Sony in regards to this game, perhaps technical information regarding Playstation releases yes but this? No.

I would hazard a guess that some jobsworth lawmonkey trying to make it look like he is doing work randomly flagged some stuff assuming it was SWG. They probably dont know the difference and youtube couldnt care less anyway and will just black flag it.

That's what I was thinking exactly. Now if only support wasn't so slow getting to people on issues so they can help me confirm this is the case. Seems like its going to be a while before I get an official response if I get one at all. I suppose even an official response confirming this is the case probably won't guarantee I get my youtube account back either.

Here is something that may or may not help you with your account, but these were released for free:

I have the soundtrack as well, which I am going to look on the CD for any kind of intellectual property rights other than LucasArts or Bioware that is plastered all over it. Not to mention, each score from the soundtrack is on YouTube.

Hopefully, you can tell Sony to pound sand.

Just re-upload it and reference the copyright to whoever actually does own the soundtrack. Tell Sony to jog on.

Record companies are the plague of the internet. They complain about anything and everything that contains music, because they think they own sound itself and want everyone to pay them for it. Even stuff that is public domain or free.

You could always turn off music in the game when your making your videos.
