If you really want to know, Daniel Erickson is the Creative Director at Bluepoint Games (and he took Emmanuel Lusinchi with him)

Georg Zoeller is Creative Technical Director at Ubisoft Singapore
Wardens of Fate / Alea Iacta Est
The Tarkus Legacy ~ The Harbinger/Jedi Covenant

Why did you ditch out in the first place?

Dude leaving is the last straw for you yet you had already ditched out on this, as you call it, "great game"? Do you feel at all like you're an early contributer to this game supposedly dying? How sad.

REASONS: (biased, factual, and fiction)

- They left because they were fired
- Because the game failed horribly after a few months of being live
- Cost them 250 MIL + to develop and sunk faster than the TItanic
- They were happy with their work and wanted to move on (to create more fails)
- They don't actually exist, and we are all living in a dream state.

They were two of the main drivers that drove this game into a ditch.
The Chaoticas Legacy -The Shadowlands Server - (40k kills)
(Havaos Jug 50) (Devaos Sorc 50) (Vorhen BH 50) (Venaos Sin 50) (Xaos BH 50) (Zorgen Jug 50) (Zataos Mara 50) (Gwaraos BH 50) (Xenaos Mara 42) (Tavaos Sin 50) (Jenaos Snip 41) (Scaraos Op 27) (Ravaos Jug 31) (Xinaos Sorc 32) (Dreadaos - Jug 22)

This was supposed to be at least in the neighborhood of WOW...it has become the most expensive flop in the history of online gaming to date.

They were told to leave...they didn't get a choice and any company would have fired management who did such a terrible job.

The last EA Quarterly report said volumes by saying as little as possible about SWTOR. You know how bad it was when SWTOR was burried in the report and Simpsons Online was trumpeted as a rousing cash success.

Simpsons...Online....think about that.
Funny thing is, they've already made their money back.

I can't say much about Daniel Erickson, but I have a theory about George Zoeller.

And my theory is this.

George was a statistics guy working for a company that uses a web crawler software to headhunt the internet for talent. Bioware had contracted this company for the purpose of finding people to work on swtor.

George shortly got a job with bioware, for whatever reason, and quickly moved into a management position, having no experience whatsoever in the video game industry.

From what I can gather, George's job on this game was a bit more far reaching than his job title would suggest. He was the "numbers guy". He pulled ALL THE NUMBERS. He is the one that sorted, graphed and presented the information to the developers that influenced the allocation of resources in development.

Enter the 1.2 patch. If you go back to the 1.2 guild summit, and watch it, as my guild and I did live on vent, you will notice that George has a few issues he would like to "address". One of those "issues" being laid out in a graph showing the current distribution of players across all classes, with jedi consular and sith inquisitor making up roughly double the number of characters when set against any other mirror class. George believed this was a problem.

As stated, he had no prior mmo experience, so he also had no idea that even bothering to look at class distribution two months into a games lifecycle was a quagmire waiting to happen.

The 1.2 patch is really where everything fell apart. The day the patch went on test, we still could not copy over. Only "selected" guilds that would give good reviews of the patch where copied over by bioware directly.

What we where expecting from this patch was..
  1. Legacy items that level with you.
  2. Ranked warzones.
  3. Interface customization
  4. A detailed combat log.
  5. Legacy perks purchased with legacy talent points.
  6. A revamped crafting system that would be more usefull end game
  7. A fix for ilum.
  8. The abillity to transfer set item bonus's from existing gear to something better looking

There was more, but that was the stuff that was big for my guild.

Now, if you go back and watch the 1.2 guild summit you will also notice that one of the other things that George has a problem with is a lack of credit sinks. He thinks people have too much money.

So, when 1.2 finally comes, of all the things we where expecting, we got.... Interface customization. Everything else either fell short or didn't make it.

And going beyond that, the legacy system cost so much gosh darn money to unlock anything it was ridiculous. This was George's personal quest to solve the "problem" of loose credits.

Then, of course, if you go and look at the patch notes, under inquisitor and consular, you will see the ABSOLUTE most crippling set of nerfs EVER RELEASED for any class IN ANY MMO in a single patch. Ever.

You don't do all of that in one patch. Ever. You do one or two things at a time, and see where things fall before doing another nerf. Maybe you have all of that on the table, but you never kick full half your player base directly in the balls all at once like that.

Of course. George didn't know that. He was honestly and totally consumed by his own arrogance to the point where he thought he could solve his "class distribution problem" with a swift kick to the ********s, and people would just roll a different class and thank him for knowing what they wanted to do with their gaming time better than they do.

Surprise surprise. Most of those people just up and left the game. Raid healers. And low and behold, raids fell apart, guilds died, more people left, and servers became ghost towns at an even faster rate.

Do your own research and come to your own conclusions, but in my opinion George Zoeller was poison for this game, and it's done nothing but get better since he left.

Legacy would have been amazing if they would have done few small things.

-Actually think out the legacy unlocks all the way to 50 to put some carrots and exclusivity in because people love feeling special.

-NOT make it a *********** cash shop and lie to everyone about unlocking things with either money OR legacy level.

-NOT make you a god in random world pvp and completely trivialize the single player aspect of the game.
