How can the hope to bring in new players? Really, that's your argument? My answer...how can it not. It's free. People can try it, and if they like it, they'll stick around. Granted it's up to BW/EA to deliver a good game, good customer service, etc... It's also up to the playerbase to deliver a good community, a pleasant, welcoming environment to those players as well so that they will stick around.

Attitudes like a lot of people, like your post, for example, tend to turn people off. The community needs to get positive, upbeat and help this game move forward. If the vast majority of players had your attitude, then this game is doomed. Thankfully it does not.
totally agree, many timesi have perfectly enjoyed this game until i've gone onto the forum and just heard some really negative commmments, small things i didn't really mind that much some people made such a deal about it, not failing to mention ofc how it is'nt the case in that other game, or that other title.. the negative was quite off putting

it happens a lot less in game but iit can do on fleet general chats, some dude starts getting really negative, but usually people respond to that... negative dreary moans just turn ppl off, you probalby like the game enough to actually bother to post, (unless you're an employee of a rival company and you're doign this to hurt the competiion) - but the grumbling and complaining really doesn't help in anyway and just pulls eveyrone else down

What should happen is the game should be turned over to a development shop like Trion, BioWare may make great pc games but they do not make great MMOs.

Uhh, you may not have been following development of this game very closely over the last 6 or so years, but I have and I can tell you that they actually gave up on this idea back in 09-10. They had that idea/expectation for the game but they began to realize in development that it would not compete and their tone concerning their ambition really changed toward the end of 09.

Right now, they're goal is making back the principle investments for development and marketing which combined could equal a figure that they were 8-9 digits short of pre-f2p (according to latest assessments from industry analysts, which by the way are all very old estimates). They could have made their money back by now, or pulled pretty close to where they can keep the lights on for years to come and function sort of like CoH did for so many years, at least that's what I am hoping for.

If you can imagine how low the expectations dropped in the last year to two years of development, that should give you an idea of how low your expectations should be now.

I have learned to enjoy this game for what it is, not focus on what it is missing, and am playing it with my wife cause she will not play anything else. Honestly, you may just not have enough of a drive to continue playing, if so, I would recommend taking off for a couple months then coming back and trying some of the new shiny stuff if that's your thing.

Those are some great ideas....sadly EA is in charge of this game...
Their strategy is to milk the customers out of as much money as posssible, while putting the least amount of effort into making a good game.

MORE HOOD UP ROBES AND ETC FOR MARAUDERS!!!!

Make every single hood up chest piece in the game in Sith colors and available in medium...It may sound silly, but I loved my Marauder, but because of the horrific looking gear, it killed it for me...

It's simple...Take all the chest pieces that are hood up robes/cloaks on the Republic side and make them black, red, and etc and available for Marauders...Even the Juggernaut chest pieces with hoods up available in medium armor would work...

You literally dont even have to make a another chest piece at all..You have plenty...Just none available for my Marauder damn it >.<

This is amazing!… Amazing ideas and amazing that you took the time to benefit the game. Bio needs to see this! I was thinking about at the endgame for Bio to add (I know this would take a ton of time) roughly 20-25 more levels where you can get more abilities for your character unlock certain items etc. Minigames (just a few on like the fleet or in cantinas) would be nice, maybe to earn some xtra credits.
BioWare consider the ideas in THIS thread.

From a designer's point of view the OP is mostly:
  • Improve space content and link it with the ground. (note: if they do it would be wrong to only start it @50)
  • Vehicles combat. Why not but for now they can't even synch correctly players positions. So it would be a mess with character moving faster in combat (ie: mounted) and the game engine already has difficulty to render fast movement without handling combat at the same time.
  • 3D movement & exploration (jetpacks, force jump, etc...) Some devs wanted it but sadly it's one of the victim of The Death Star sessions
  • Cinematis: always nice.... only the first time and too expansive vs the ROI if you ask any producer
  • Skills: the game needs much more than a few nice skills to make it better.
  • Animations: see above.

(edit) Not to say these aren't cool ideas though but a producer needs more than cool ideas

Man, I gotta say. It sure is nice to see a well thought out post instead of the, Bioware sucks TOR-Tanic is going down. Many of your ideas are great, and would certainly change this game for years to come and extend its life, I'm just not sure at this point how possible they are. I like it though, well done.

Op I will agree with you on point one, as for mounted combat only if the player is mounted on a beast, like a rancor. I too felt blizzard dropped the ball on a perfectly good chance for mounted combat in wraith. On animations I strongly must disagree with you on that. The current combat animations are fine, and the fact they stick at times, means the devs need to first fix the bugs. Also have you tried using the animations to your advantage? Its something I picked up in wow, and swg. What I mean by this when I use sunder armor on my sith warrior I jump at the exact moment of the start of the animation. What happens is it looks like my sith is taking off the npcs head with a ruthless upward thrust with a lightsaber. I do this with several of the animations I find it makes the game more fun. This is also why I couldn't get into guild wars 2 or lord of the rings online. The way they have their game set up you cant use their animations for some cool outcomes. You are instead grounded to hit a key and watch their animations play out.
