When executing a hostile take over, the best thing to do is get rid of the targets leaders. Then once you do that you replace them with spineless lackeys who will sellout and/or bend to your will without question.

Yup ... sounds about right to me.

Sure, lines were written and voice acted but the actual content? No.
Obligatory SWTOR Referral link: http://www.swtor.com/r/43YdkT 7 day sub, etc etc.

So how come only what 1 or 2 of the original developers who started Blizzard are still there? Why are only 1 or 2 of the developers who created WoW still working there? Why are NONE of the original developers who made Diablo 1 or 2 working on Diablo 3?

It's how the video game industry works. Unless you are one of the top guys at a company you don't tend to stay. Developers want to make their own games. So once they get a few projects under their belt they move on to do their dream project.

I know it's hard to understand for gamers because most of us would kill for a job at Blizzard or Bioware and never leave but that's not how the game industry works.

It's like Star Wars. Most of us would have loved to create Star Wars or even be in control of it. However George Lucas just wanted to make movies. He had a lot of movies he wanted to make and he always considered Star Wars just some silly sci fi movie he made. But the fans demaned he make more even though he wanted to make movies like "Red Tails" (skip it btw)

These developers want to go on and make their dream projects. Not be stuck working on the same game for years.

2. They were STARTED during beta. However not finished. There are some exceptions such as group finder had to be made from the ground up.
1. fanboi alert. Give dates and exact week count.

2. Started and finished before layoffs and held off. Just like those gazzillion armor sets that are not available yet.

Why should i long for people that did a terrible job and only had brains for copy pasting WoW and make the game grindy as hell? I will follow closely what projects these gentlemen will attend to in the future just to make sure i will never bay anything made by them again.

You know, if tomorrow Gabe Amantagello left BW, i wouldn't shed any tears either. Seeing what a poor job he did with PVP in SWTOR: no individual ranking, no new maps, no class balance, grind grind grind.. you get the idea.

Its actually better than it used to be but most programmers and developers i know wouldnt want to be in the video game industry. Its extremely volatile and companies go out of business quite often. You work long hours and your "fans" generally spew hate towards you from all directions for your efforts.

Im not suprised they had layoffs though as the infrastructure of the game is in place so they dont need all that man power anymore

Launch: single fleet instances, single world instances within 3 days.
6 months later: triple fleet instances, 3 - 4 world instances.

Yeh there has been a decrease, however judging it by server numbers hardly applies when the actual player count per server increased.

Fleets instanced right from release.

Subs peaked at 1.7m and probably bottomed out around 500,000 (with 2,400,000 trying the game in that time).

FP2 certainly brought a bump of players back, but my server pop is already dropping from that bump.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?
