But some of the rare drops from the boxes have better stats per level. When on PTS i got a lvl 10 crystal with 41 endurance. Thats 410 hp bonus. The best crystal at lvl 10 in game know gives about 6 endurance at lvl 10. Thats a 350hp boost.

EDIT: It seems many people think I am simply whining and want my cake and to eat it, an I want more kinda thread. I just want to clarify that I do not feel this way. I was curious if others felt 500 per month was a good deal for subs. I simply don't know myself as I have not been in this position before and was wondering if going F2P and buying the coins as I needed them would be a cheaper way to play the game. Some people however, cant resist an opportunity to bash on folk.
To be honest now as i look at cartel shop prices 500 coins is nothing.

The 500 coins are nice for subscribers (and it's industry standard), but they aren't a good way to decide if the subscription is worth it to you. The coins are more like a reward for subscribers than an incentive to subscribe. You could just buy coins for cheaper than the subscription. So, instead look at what the subscription gives you, compare to the f2p restrictions and unlocks, and decide what you want out of your experience with SWTOR.

Since I don't care about SWTOR pvp, ops, and barely care about flashpoints, the subscription isn't worth it, and the 500 coins don't matter. It was nice to have a subscription with access to everything, but when f2p arrives, I'll be paying for stuff I don't use. I'm going preferred and scaling back how I play SWTOR to fit with the experience SWTOR expects for preferred players. It will shift things a little, as I'll cut back on multiplayer and go more solo/co-op. The biggest change is that I'll stop doing daily flashpoints. I did for those commendations. Commendations are harder to get and prices are more expensive for preferred. Since I don't really need the rewards, I'm not going to grind for them under unfavorable conditions. Instead I'll do one flashpoint a week with loot rolls.

I'll probably unlock crafting again, since crafting will be the best way for preferred to get ok stuff. It won't be impacted by loot roll restrictions, mission reward restrictions (except lockboxes), or increased commendation grind. It should also be the least affected by vendor price changes. Unlocks can make crafting better whereas penalties are permanently stuck to the other ways of getting gear. It will be a bit slower with fewer deployed companions, but it's not like I'm going to craft stuff for other people. So, craft my own gear, play some more stories, cut back on group activities, and buy unlocks for things I want, like new areas.

I think there's a way to get a decent preferred solo/co-op experience as long as you give up on multiplayer and good gear, which is where SWTOR is really trying to punish preferred. Alternatively you can get the subscription for the premium experience, and get some bonus coins to spend on whatever you want.

Your decision shouldn't be based on cartel coins. If you pay a sub you are deciding that access to the entire game is worth your sub fee. If you make any decisions based on the "free" cartel coins, you are not making an informed decision. Be a better consumer and make a decision based on the product not the fringe benefits.

I think it's awesome. It's enough to buy one goody bag (with change to spare) per month without ever having to spend anything more than your normal sub. Personally, I really appreciate it.

To make this clear:

BEFORE F2P, everyone with a sub was able to aquire EVERYTHING in game, without a cash shop.

WITH F2P, you can save up your coins or PAY EXTRA to aquire things which are NOT in game.

Some subscribers will pay even more than they used to pay.

Yes, 500 coins is not enough.
They should hand out the amount of coins your subscription costs per month, 15$ ~ 1500 coins, not 500

Virtual coins given for free so i can buy virtual items for a virtual world inside a video game i would be playing anyways without the "coins" ..

not exactly a big game breaking moment if you only get 500 IMO.

500 is fine..for me, i coulnt care less if it was 500 or 100. I didnt buy the game for virtual coins and i havent continued playing it for some internet virtual money either. i play the game as something to take my mind off real life and its stresses for a while.

Anyone who is stressing out over some electronic coins to buy some fancy virtual gear and pets for a video game really needs to find something else in their life to do to fill their time.

No, it's far from enough. It should be 2.000 coins each month. 500 is nothing considering the price of items in the Cartel Shop. As it is at the moment, even subscribers are forced to purchase extra Cartel Coins if they want to get anything of use from the Cartel Shop.
But Cartel Coins simply shouldn't exist for subscribers. Instead everything in the Cartel Shop should be purchasable for commendations as well as for Cartel Coins (and would be a nice way for players to get rid of all the redundant left-over commendations from various planets).
There shouldn't be anything in the game that subscribers can't get by simply putting in time to play. The Cartel Shop makes me feel that I am subscribing without getting access to the full game.

Did it ever occour to you that discussing this and everything else that has to do with the game is simply another way of getting away from real life and its stress for a few mins?

Since a F2P player will have to spend far more per month to have access to the same features in game that a subscriber does plus the 500 coins for $15 I feel the amount given subs is more then sufficient.
