I will rephrase my POV.

I do not think the game is dead.

I think that for a lot of the videogame community, it's dead.

Even more unfortunately, the game also hits the perfect storm concerning the SW franchise. If you are a SW fan, there will soon be tons of SW stuff to buy.

now when I tell someone I play games they think I mean facebook or wii games. (I do own a wii but that's beside the point :P)
if I tell them I play an 'online game' they ask 'oh like world of warcraft?'.... 'yeah.... only better'. *cough*

when has playing games become cool?

and don't get me wrong, I don't think something automatically sucks just because it's popular... however, most stuf that is popular is popular because it's 'catchy'. this can be a book, a song, a film, a game... but catchy is not automatically quality.

why did so many people complain about TOR deep down? because there is not enough 'fluff' and not enough 'wildlife'... because instead of cute bunnies and butterflies in the fields you see 'space cows' and 'flying dolphins'.

then again, I've had people complain to me that LOTRO had goblins, because apparently that's 'too much like wow'
the hell?
I remember when playing WoW wasn't cool, which funny enough was when I played it

I agree not everything that is popular is Inherently bad, but statistically everything that is unpopular seems to be good. It is definitely a changing generation. 5 years ago when I was in Highschool and before glee was a real thing I remember being in Drama was Uncool, so was cheerleading.

Well suck that Jocks from my Highschool years! I guess I was cool before it was cool! Yea, you all play WoW now? Well I will see you in 5 years when you catch up to TOR and I am off playing something "Lame"!

Um, you do realize they also increase population thresholds right? What was once heavy is considered light nowadays man. They didn't "Close" a lot of servers, they just merged them to allow a more streamlined and abundant community.

PvE and RP servers hit high and full populations regularly. PvP servers get to medium-high but that is to be expected because casual players don't like being ganked or ganking.

hahahaha indeed. same as now everyone and their mother has played UO and EQ. oh no, wait, that's not cool enough. everyone played meridian59
(and of course everyone owned a comodore 64)

it's like it's a bad thing not being the 'nerdiest nerd ever' anyway. it's like.. what the hell happened? and what has that got to do with TOR? oh right... and the wannabe 'I'm such a star wars fan because I can quote sheldon' gamer were 'upset' with the game.... well. fine. everyone has a right to disliking something. but I will simply not believe they all .honestly. expected this and that. most of them wanted a game TOR never claimed it would be. and the rest wanted a 'wow in space' that is 'nothing like wow'

I just wish they would move on already. (to be fair, many have. gw2 has a minor *****torm on it's back too -.-)

Don't bother, no matter what you say to some of these people you will never get them to admit that this is infact the second most powerful Subscription based MMO in the west, you will never get them to admit that the population has stabilised using information from the same sites they sourced to prove it was dying months ago, nor will they accept the fact that a lot of people are coming back for F2P and that this upcoming update could be the fuel need to restart the machine and get moving at a decent pace, especially with things like Open-World PVP coming in January, etc...

Yea I know, but quitting is for quitters! And France!

I must champion the cause for educating the ignorant, because If I don't noone will. At least not for a few years when it becomes cool

I used to read these magazines last century. Haven't bothered checking them in more than a decade. I prefer to check out games myself instead of having some "journalist" trying to tell me what I have to like.

Not to mention that I would find the opinion of the most illiterate rage poster on these forums to be more credible than Gamespy.
