All the casual Star Wars fans i know/seen, the ones who dont play the games etc. They all mention the death star and rave about the space battles in the movies. Here on the forums i know Space combat was the most desired feature for BW to add

Problem is, developping and adding real time multiplayer space combat to the game has been done before by SWG with the Jump to Lightspeed expansion... Everyone were asking for it and yet, once it was there, it hasn't been a subscribing fest. So people at BioWare/EA might actually think this course of action would result in the same outcome : a lot of ressources and money for something that won't bring the gold...

Yes! Give us more Star Wars! Please! More Star Wars more more more more more Star Wars. This is what everyone wants from this. We play this because it's Star Wars! Don't worry about the Star Wars being too much, never too much Star Wars!

You have NO IDEA how excited I got when I saw the cinematic trailer for the first time. It wasn't because it was realistic looking. It was the STAR WARSNESS OF IT. THAT FIGHT WAS SO FREAKING AMAZING.

pvp amounted to who had the ship that could turn the fastest would win..... It was a bust IMO....
Ahem, have something to say about this, that is how real world dogfights (at least in the days without missiles like World War Two) worked. The side with the most maneuverable plane won most of the time unless the enemy pilot had a huge skill advantage. So if you were going with Star Wars realism, (if theres such a thing) that would be one of the best ways to show it.

I think a better argument can be made for the "battle of hoth" experience over space IMO because I've played the space game before. I've never driven a walker, or flown a repub troop transport, etc. But, since it appears we're not getting that......we just can't have a simple space sim. There needs to be exploration aspects and a social aspects. It needs to have a real connection to the ground game, not just feel like a separate experience as JTLS did.

Getting a JTLS clone would be bitter sweet. I hope the devs give us something at least a little more innovative then flying circles around and around until you're dead.

Jump to lightspeed was very popular, and not only for people wanting to battle in space, but for players just wanting to hang out on their yacht, or pob, with other players. There was also a huge boost to crafting with JTL, what with shipwrights, droid engineers, not to mention the ground quests linked with space. No reason the ground game can't benefit from space revamp in this game.
As for this game, for a space revamp to come out number 1 in the wish list poll, shows there's most definitely alot of interest out there.
PROPER SPACE COMBAT PLEASE

Just in the interest of the point you made at the end of that post, MMORPG.com recently posted a poll about the most desired feature in SW:TOR, with Space Combat winning first place.

In any event, I agree that space ship battles are not the essence of Star Wars.

History... reading it is helpful.... the A6M Zero, for example, in WWII was one of the more maneuverable planes of the war... yet American planes would win because they wouldn't play a turning dogfight.
