BoL costs 3 times more. So people with a bunch of alts can think about "how many characters would I really use this item for?" and invest in the expensive version if they think they'll use the item on 3 or more alts.

That way Bioware gets more money, and players get choice. I for one want my alts to look different in class and personality, so I would probably just be opting for 3 different BoE items instead of one BoL one. I think it would be a fair solution.
I don't disagree. And from a business standpoint... if they did do bind to legacy items... they would charge much more in coins for them. But I'm going to bet that the QQers want bind to legacy at non-bind to legacy prices. It's the nature of the QQ IMO.

Bound to Legacy! Please Bioware. Or reduce the cartel coin costs. I would be more inclined to buy the armor if it was Bound to legacy.

Obviously, they should be Bind to Legacy. We'll be spending real money, above and beyond subscription fees for these fluff items. We should be able to use them as we see fit amongst our own characters.

On the flipside, BioWare might stand to make more money hoping we'll buy an extra copy of the same armor piece for another character. I would never do that personally, but then I'd never spend real money on a "chance" of getting something I want with a gamble bag and clearly there are plenty of folks who would love the chance to throw money away on a chance. So, it's possible that would manage to generate extra income.

Personally, if the armor sets are not generally made to be Bind to Legacy, then I think they should at least make them Bind to Legacy for subscribers. A recent dev post pointed out BioWare still views subscribers as an integral portion of the SWTOR community. Allowing our armor to be Bind to Legacy would not only help us feel the extra (and I do point out EXTRA) money is better spent and help to ensure a feeling that we still matter.

Oh, and no, I would not pay a single coin more for a BoL version of the same armor piece. It's bad enough I'll have to spend my 500 coins a month on a random chance I might get one of the few things I actually want. I'm already paying a subscription. I'm not paying more just so I can feel like a purchase is worthwhile. If the purchase isn't worthwhile on its face, then I don't want it.

Honestly, I don't think any of it should be tradable. They should get rid of the gamble packs (or at least list the items separately for a higher price) and then make it all Bind to Legacy. The people who want it can spend their own real money (or monthly CC allowance) on it and get on with life. Allowing us to sell items to each other seems counter-intuitive to the entire point of a cash shop in the first place. But... whatever...

Funny. I thought the implementation of the Cartel Store was the Rise of the Hutt Cartel. And no, I do not like what that story has to offer. I keep getting screwed in it.

In my opinion the armor that is purchaseable from the cartel store directly should be bop, however I think the armors looted from the cartel packs should be bind to legacy upon equip, meaning after the time bop delay is gone, you could sell it on the GTN, or equip it and it becomes bol. This option still allows you to sell it if you choose to, and allows you to send it to an alt (if you equiped it to make it bol) Just my 2 cents.

Hears a question people are saying it boe the second you put mods in it. Is it the armor or is it the mods that boe, if you take the mods out is it still boe? And on no I don't think it should bol. Wouldn't be BOL if it was in game directly shouldn't be bol in the cash shop. Buy it let the time run out and give it to the alt you want to have it simple enough.

because have you seen how crappy republic gear is (outside trooper gear) Sage's have the absolute worst choice of hats, helmets, masks.

Yes -- Bound on Legacy for any item that only comes from a real life money purchase up front.

Bioware probably thinks this will reduce their top line sales up front on this stuff. But speaking as someone who does sometimes spend more than I ought to on MMOs, I can say I will not spend anything at all on items that are bind to character, while I probably will shell out for BOL items. When I get sick of a toon and want to move on to another one for a while, I like it if I can carry at least some of my stuff over to the new one, and BOL would give me an incentive to spend the cash on some of these items, if they make that possible.

If it feels like a chance to get something nice I can use for a long time, I'll pay for it. If it just feels like a random cash sink, I'm not going to spend a dime on it ever.

Star Trek Online has something like bind on legacy where you can pay cash to unlock a ship type once, and after that you're able to claim that ship on any character on the same account whenever you want. They sell a ton of honestly pretty overpriced and underwhelming ships that way.

An interesing idea, but as always the devil would be in the detail.

Paying $5 for BoE and $15 for BoL might work, but paying $15 for BoE and $45 for BoL is likely doomed to failure and complaints.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?
