Halloween Event?

Here's how you do a Halloween event in swtor: Have the players visit the wreckage of Malachor V, where you have to fight waves and waves of mandalorians, and finally end the planet with a Darth Nihilus boss battle. True Star Wars fans know however, that when Meetra Surik left Malachor, it crumbled, so make the entire planet a nightmare WOOOOO!

You could also have a trick or treat event on the fleet, where you can buy a mask that looks like a space skeleton or space pumpkin or space mummy. You go around to different npcs, and they'd give you random loot and maybe a candy buff for 60 seconds, which maybe changes your appearance. The candy buff on the imperial fleet could have a chance to give you the razor blade debuff, which just makes you move slow or something.

Those were all pretty crap ideas, but I think it's important for an mmo to have holiday events. It builds a bigger sense of community, and makes the world feel alive. If we don't get our real world holidays in game, then I would really like to see BW add a couple fictional holidays to the SW universe.

I personally love MMO holidays because, like lots of posters before me have said, part of the reason why I play MMOs is to feel like I'm part of a living, breathing world. If that world never changes, it feels horribly stagnant, and all the lore-friendly questlines in the world won't make it feel less stagnant if there's never anything new going on in the digital world around me.

I say this as a very serious roleplayer and lifelong Star Wars fan/more recent canon nerd.

I agree I don't really want to see pink winged ewoks in this game, but a creepy themed event for Halloween or some sort of festival to coincide with Christmas would be lovely. A little bit of creativity goes a long way. I can think of a billion ways to Star Wars-ify holidays without bringing in jack-o-lanterns and santa hats.

Also, guess what: if there's a creepy holiday that coincides with Halloween, and this offends your delicate hardcore super serious gamer sensibilities, you don't have to participate. And then everyone is happy! Hooray!
Nah, I don't think it's grumpiness. I wouldn't say no to there being fireworks being let off in the sky by ships around Christmas and new year. Or something centred around a force ghost at Halloween. As long as it fits in with Star Wars, and isn't a tacky collect pumpkin head from trooper zombie mini game.
Having said that, it was fun throwing snowballs in swg, and doaba guerfel did look good with snow on it.

Life day is celebrated every 3 years, on kashyykk. Wookiees felt it very important to return to their home planet to celebrate it. During the GCW it was every year. We haven't got that planet yet, but I'd be happy to have life day every 3 years when we do.

Life Day is 100% canon.

They even have zombies in SW (Death Troopers) so a halloween-esq zombie even that happend to be around halloween would be fine lore-wise too.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

The thing is with so many planets in the Republic and Empire, every day is like some day somewhere.

So it just needs will and invention on Bioware EA's part really.

Umm not really. You talk a lot of sense on these forums, but I disagree with you here. Life day is a very specific holiday, celebrated only on kashyykk. I can understand swg making it on different planets, every year, but that was due to the timeline. There's no planet in this game, and no reason for every year.
Maybe they could centre around an npc wookiee, stuck on, say alderaan, and you have to help him celebrate in some way, but I can't see how you could have the real deal.

Lucas has done everything in his power to erase the Holiday Special from existence. I don't know where you got that he made it canon but I'd like to see a link cause I don't believe you can provide one. That he had already come up with the concept of life day and 20th Century Fox used that as the basis for the terrible terrible special, ok that I would believe, but not that Lucas did a complete 180 and started saying the Holiday Special itself was canon.

I personally don't want holidays incorporated in game. Instead, I would much rather prefer more live events like the Rakghoul event. Real life is saturated enough with holiday themes around the holidays, i don't really want the swtor to be too. It just doesn't seem like it would be a good fit overall anyway.

You do realize that Nihilus has long since been dead for 300+ years, oh and there is a problem with Malachor V:

As Surik [Jedi Exile from KOTOR 2] departed Malachor in the Ebon Hawk, the dead planet crumbled under the pressure of the mass shadow's gravity, leaving behind only asteroids and the wreckage of many hundreds of blasted warships, a grim memorial to the Battle of Malachor V.
