Since last major patch I have encountered continual chrashing to desktop, on average about 6 times within an hour.

Have lowered some of my graphics settings to see what happens, but still the same. Windows and display drivers all currently up to date.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Bluesabre,

We occasionally encounter issues with new drivers, could you please try rolling back to a previous version(for example, 301.42) to see if the problem persists. This will help to zero in on the problem, or at least discount a potential driver issue.

IF this doesn't work, please post up your crash report, it may help. To get this, please take the steps below:
  • Open your Start menu and type "View Reliability History" into the search box.
  • Select the most recent SWTOR.exe failure denoted with a red circle with a white X in the middle.
  • Double-click the related Critical Event under Source.
  • Copy the full description to the clipboard and paste this in to your reply.

Thanks.

Really, then why are you telling people to update to the latest drivers on other threads?

Because updating drivers is usually the correct step.

That said, sometimes there are driver issues, trying different ones can determine the source of the problem. If the problem persists with different drivers, then that discounts them. If it doesn't, that points towards a driver issue.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. It looks like some more in-depth troubleshooting may be needed, as to what interaction is causing this problem. Please create a ticket by emailing support@swtor.com, and please attach a copy of your launcherdiag file to it. This file contains a signifcant amount of system information and can help us to find the exact source of the issue. This can be obtained by running the launcherdiag.exe that is in the SWTOR directory. This will create a .tgz file, which can be attached to the aforementioned mail.

In this mail, please be sure to list the steps you have already taken.

Once this is done, hopefully we can help in the meantime. Please restart your computer with a Clean Boot and play again to see if that has any effect on the crashing.

Also, please double check that you have all available updates for your windows (including .NET framework and Visual C++ features). Not having everything up to date can lead to stability issues.

I hope this helps.

Have done as asked, a few days back.

Clean boot seemed to reduce the amount of crashing for a short time, but on resetting, returned to as before.

Now waiting on reply from support.

Agreed were all having the same DLL file crash. CS has said it not wide spread enough to look any further so it must be are pc's. Which i went out and proved them wrong.

I took 4 system loaded new version of windows and all drivers Service Pack windows update applie. with different hardware. Had nothing on the system other them windows and swtor and the required directx and C++. Guess what happen all 4 pc's they crash randomly. Tried many video drivers both nvidia and ATI both crash the same. That rules out the video driver since the cards were from different manufacturers.

Now as pc repair tech i can tell you all 4 pc had no hardware issue and ran other top MMO just fine. Will CS or the Devs admit there are issue probably not they like to blame other things.

If you talk to player on your server on fleet there a lot of them crashing to there desktops. Only some of those player report it. Most dont even know the forums are here. What BW did do is broke there code with 1.4 So wish you the best of luck getting this issue fixed as all the tips even ones posted by the community don't work.
