But seriously, the BEST gear is not as easily available. Campaign gear is not best anymore. Still, this game does not have infinitely many levels of challenge. If your group is skilled enough to do HM EC in Columi in just a few tries, you won't find much more challenge than that in game. You can create it on your end by running with fewer people, or intentionally wearing worse gear (I like that nerf-herder tunic a lot). But the game itself does not have infinitely many levels of raid challenge.

How could infinitely many levels of challenge be accomplished, from the game design perspective?

I assume you did not solo these instances. Please do tell more about your groups. Were you with a guild? Did nobody else need anything from EC HM, so you could have it all? If so, this MAKES SENSE. You are gearing an alt for a guild, while having already experienced that content. Why should you be delayed on that latest alt at all? You, the player, and your whole group, had done the work before.

Once again, I would like to point out that I am not turning against that the game gets "boring" I enjoy raiding alot and does it at all levels with all my chars (3 with campaign/dread guard) to gear up guildes or help pug groups and so on. I just turn again the fact that you can get the best gear in only on day, that is kind of bad for the game and the hardcore PvE players out there.

So 7 other people thinking same wasy as you decide to grab you and pull you trough that content so you can be as bored as them, and you can all whine together? Or maybe there is someone that, gasp, simply enjoys raiding? Nah, that's impossible, this must be guild of terrible villains that enjoy destroying game for each other.
Naturally we all 8 (!) like to raid and does it a lot (4-5 times per week and 6-7 during progression) but my point is not that it gets boring since you have nothing to do, not even close. My point is that it SHOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE to get the BiS gear during your first day as lvl 50. (I might need to point out that I only got the campaign parts and had some work with remodding everything after and now getting the new dread guard gear as well).

Wouldn't it be more fun to run ops and get more interesting loot, like speeders, pets, social items, etc? Get the gear to run ops from elsewhere, then just enjoy being with friends running ops for fun items. You can still show off, with all the stuff you get from them, as they can only be gotten from ops. I just don't see the appeal of spending a long time doing ops to get the gear to do ops, then have no other reason to do them. Isn't it supposed to be fun? Do we really need to stick to the same old way of doing things?

The rate of gear progression is fine. I don't need a annoying wow gear grind. I barely have time to play this game much less with your ridiculousness gear grinds. Now if BW includes a way to buy said gear from the shop, then I don't have a problem. You have lots of time to play and I have money to spend. It's fair proposition.

For the record, only 2-3 had full campaign gear and the other ppl were alts or other dudes from my guild that happened to be online (it was a full guildrun) and yes most had been in both Denova SM and HM before but only four had done HM before and cleared all content. I was naturally the worst geared but I would say that most ppl still had rakata and 2-3 black hole parts (if we dont count the 2-3 ppl that had full campaign). I was given all the loot since the drops improved my gear the most.

But you, as everyone else totally miss the point of my post, what I was meaning to shine a light on is that you can get BiS to fast these days, in a week or two you wont even need to do operations anymore. You just need to have a lot of credits and buy the stuff from crafters....

Thank you for explaining. I would like to address your point explicitly. You (the player, not your particular alt) have spent time learning the fights in EC HM. You probably spent time waiting for drops on your main. You also spent time obtaining BH commendations and credits. All of the things you listed translate into TIME. You said you play 5-7 evenings a week, I assume several hours per night. That's why it's JUST creds, comms or HM runs for you! You have already spent the MANY hours necessary to obtain the gear. And Campaign isn't best in slot at the moment for most classes and slots.

Your case is an illustration that if you work hard enough (10-20 hours a week of raiding), you can obtain the best in the world.

So, how could a designer challenge someone who is willing to raid that much? Would raiders die from exhaustion raiding like 80 hours a week if there were five more tiers of difficulty available with each patch?

but the gear IS soaked in tears and blood,,just not YOURS

all the work to make this IMAGINARY item is quite big

the miner who digs up the coal for electricity,,,hard and dangerous

the satellites for the net,,front line technology

THE DEVS , WHO DESIGN THE WHOLE GAME AND THE DESIRED ITEMS,,this is like making

a movie,,both "artistic" AND "mechanics" working together

one of the biggest problems in MMOs have always been the HUGE difference in players,,

their skills,,attitude to the game, how much time they have, also their internet connection and

computer are big factors

i dont know end game here, but in wow burning crusade i grinded instances for 8 MONTHS

to get 2 full sets of epic gear,,and in the other end , wow was WAY more casual than this

and here comes the real problem,,this is a new game,,when they nerf operations/medals, whatever

to adjust this problem, THE PLAYERS RAGE ON FORUMS

on this note:

any1 whining about end game a month after release,,get a life

any1 about PVP balance before 6 months,,play a shooter game, that is MADE for PVP

any1 about "this is too easy" ,,congratulations,,ure a very good player,,,THE END

or should they make the whole game harder , so u can play it again?

no im NOT against end game content, i still do some in STO

the solution is simple:

make the "normal"game easier,,,make end game harder

yeah I was Loving SwG then I went to basic training in the Army, got out and ZOMG Everyone was a Jedi and every piece of my server best gear was vendor trash... I quit immediately.

Ouch that had to stung. The NGE really turned the game into a warp and dark thing it was never meant to be.
