If only...

Copying WoW was a mistake, they still have a chance to fix that, if they'd start copying Everquest's model, it's STILL going as far as I know.

I sincerely hope that F2P and success with it convinces them to change direction to adding content other than end game and space combat missions.

Yeah. All developers who decide to copy WoW should instead copy the first decision Blizzard made in WoW's development.... copy Everquest.

Flying mounts, macros, addons, free space flight and pvp, player housing (or more customizable ships) swoop racing, open worlds, player made content....
A well thought-out post, but i disagree with this part. The suggestions you said are not "innovations" at all, rather they are existing features that are from other games.

SWTOR has plenty of innovations that people seem to overlook, such as the use of the heat/energy/ammo resource, which in my opinion is one of the best additions ever added to an MMO. In particular, it's the only time that healing has been done without a mana bar. For the first time, players have to manage their resource in the short term, but can sacrifice this for additional burst provided a resource recovery ability is off cooldown. Healing with a mana bar has always seemed to me to be clunky - there is little to no short-term decision making needed and regeneration/management is almost always passive requiring no player attention - and is basically an "enrage" timer in that your raid wipes when the healers are out of mana.

Add to the list class storylines (every other MMO you follow the same path no matter who you are), having a companion to make levelling viable as any spec, and the heavy use of three-dimension space and the environment in PvP (particularly Huttball), and the Smugger/Agent's cover mechanic. If you haven't played a Gunslinger or Sniper yet, I'd suggest you do as it is probably one of the most unique class experiences in any MMO. Skilled players can make heavy use of their environment and use it as a very effective mobility tool in addition to a defensive one.

I recently resubbed after playing Guild Wars 2. And I have to say, this is a really fun game after all! Guild Wars is a great title with good graphics, dynamic events <- me like, lots of customization <- we need that. But there is something missing and I can't put my finger on it. I think it is a combination of MASSIVE GRIND and no voice acting. Even though Swtor could use a lot of improvement especially some more "life" to the world like GW2 got where npcs attack each others' bases etc. it is a much better game imo.

yes the companion system is great and the best part in the game IMO

this should be in ALL mmos (lightsabers too)

but the problem with class quests: if i play a jedi knight, im "locked" to that content

i HAVE to do it ,,less choice

and being a jedi, i cant access the other classes content= even less choices

they would have done better if all that material wasnt "locked", it should just have been

more "normal" quests and more maps

I agree, we need different thing to do, some sandbox elements, thses forums have tons and tons of posts saying almost the same thing, the community team cannot be reading these forums and not picking up on them, most posts have when it comes to content and features.

Our toons need to feel like they live in the world and not just playing through it, time has come they need to stop giving us the same content over and over and calling it new, another op, or war zone is not new it is more of what we already have, how many ferris wheel do we need in these theme park ? Wee need cantina games, swoop and pod racing, if our ships are our home then we need to be able to decorate them, we need dyes to color armor, more options, open world pvp with faction perks DAOC style, the game has a great theme park, but giving us the same thing over and over is killing these games these days, not only TOR but other pure theme park games as well.
Do not dwell in the past, do not not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Expectations lead to suffering

One thing I have noticed in months of wasting time at work... I mean following these forums... is that the "we want more oldschool!" posters like myself used to be outnumbered by a wide margin. Now we are about equal in number, if not the majority. It's ironic that they never made the game for us, but we are the ones paying to keep the lights on, and the "more WoW!" crowd are gone. Hopefully they catch onto this and tailor future development accordingly.
