And again time within boxed codes, again this is time you paid for in the box, it is not "free" time.

Both of these things would be a negligible cost to EA, but would produce a lot of good will.

Where as the way it seems to be work sets up a precedent of Bioware EA gouging already on thier Cashshop model, which does NOT bode well for the furture of the game.
I used to travel to America a lot, every 6 return flights I made enough air miles for a free flight, however I didn't receive air miles for the free flight, why, because I didn't buy it.

Your argument makes no sense to me sorry.

Your example makes no sense.

The "free" month was supposed to be in appreciation of people staying and playing the game dispite them being unable to deliver what they'd promised to deliver.

It was NOT an "earned perk", it was a gift, a "sorry" and "thank you", it was also MANDATORY (you couldn't say "no I don't want this, I'd rather pay").

But now it seems it was actually neither, it was paid for with Cartel Coins.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

My free flight was in appreciation of me using the same airline, spending my money with them (yes spending money).

FYI the free month was an earned perk, some people didn't get it.

My sister bought me a book for christmas and received cashback on her card, hey I'm suddenly paying her for the book, err no.

Hey you want another freebie, maybe EA will cave and give you it but then again maybe they won't. It's their decision.

Yup and the free month was an apology for not delivering what they said they would and a thank you for staying dispite this which isn't the same thing at all.

No it was an appology and a thank you for stay dispite us not delievering what we promised to deliver, completely different.

If your sister bought you a book for Xmas and then charged you for it 6 months later then it would be the same thing.

It is NOT free - we are now paying for it in Cartel Coin.

When you pay for something it is NOT "free" - although I guess it is people that fail to understand that which makes the "Free" to Play system work.

you can make it even MORE simple:

the people who are no longer playing still got that free month.

we however get 'less than a month' for free now.

and .that. is the part I think isn't 'fair', especially as the free month was a 'thanks for sticking around' gift to begin with.

the people who got the month 100% free ARE NO LONGER STICKING AROUND

and those of us who .are. sticking around do not get the 150 cartel coins.

let's look at it like this:

after the f2p switch a month is 'worth' 250 cartel coins. (I think, anyway, but the number doesn't matter)

that means the april free month is really just a free week and a half. but the people who aren't keeping their sub right now got a WHOLE MONTH for free. the people who are no longer loyal to this game got more out of this gift than those of us who are still here.

Yeah it's strange that the people they most want to thank (or should) are the ones gettting least from it.

Although perhaps the strangest part, it was impossible to NOT get this month if you qualified for it. You couldn't say "no".

It was basically "here is a gift, you must take it" then 6 months later..... "er.... actually you will be paying for that "gift" we gave you".

This doesn't make any sense, the only people that earned the free month at first were people that had a 50 by April 12. i remember that for certain. People who didn't have a 50 but had been around since launch were qqing. It is in no way that's the same as FF miles. Now if BW mailed everyone a card that they could punch when they had a 3 month sub and a 50, that would earn them a free month. That would be FF miles. This is not what happened.

It costs BW nothing to program this to reward CC for every month we had and have an active sub for the game, game card or auto pay. They would make a lot of people happy. Right now they are aggravating a lot of loyal players that remember the April shenanigans for minimal gains.

So as has been said twice now, the 30 day game time that comes with the 'purchase' of the game, gives you cartel coins yes?

I have recently just subbed (my 'free time' will be up 'before' f2p and I see this:

You will be granted 0 Complimentary Cartel Coins at the launch of the Free-to-Play option.
Sooo....another copy and paste error? Maybe someone at EAWare needs to employ more people who have some mastery of the English language and basic computer use.

Edit: Even though it does not affect me at all, I agree with those who feel unjust in receiving 'mandatory' free game time for whatever reason yet not receiving the coins for said game time. That's just...well...typical EA in my opinion. You should complain as loud as you can to get this remedied.

Yeah it's unclear whether any cartel coins are been given for:

1. Free time given out in April.

2. Free time given with any box purchase.

It seems like problem not for at least one of those, unless the whole cartel coin webpage is just not adding things up correctly.

Goretz...

To be fair (and before anyone flames me)...I've been on the fence over this game for a long long time. Finally got a new copy VERY cheap, upon reading the F2P FAQ and thought I would be cheeky. Why not. Gets me some coins for no outlay.

If that is not the case, then tough luck on me I guess hehe...and that's the way the cookie crumbles. But again, under EA, Bioware have never been great at wording and communication. In my mind (Business and English educated), the FAQ I read stated that 'any sub' prior to FTP got 'x' amount of coins.

Well, I am subbed. I have signed up, and annoyingly, also had to set up my subscription at the time of applying the free game time...so as far as I am concerned, I am a subscriber.

The problem with the written word, can be taken to mean so many different things. Perhaps that's why my wife and I argue so much :P
