Not a reason to stay, and I was hoping it would be. Didn't turn out for me that way.
name one where the price is too high, the one you want insta-buy on alts would be the speeder at lvl 10, which is 40k, not even that much, i would suspect that your lvl 30 character has at least double that amount, so you can at least buy the speeder at lvl 10 for 2 alts.

there's one that's a bit pricey, thats the GTN, for 5 mil, but it is for all your characters, seeing that you can get 300k+ for about an hour of gameplay, saving up 12 days isn't the hardest thing to do right..

Really? Not made clear?

You mean reading the tooltip is not clear enough to know to finish chapter one of your class story to unlock legacy?

I'm starting to think you just didn't read anything..

The fact is:

a) there is ZERO in-game lore or explanation how to reach some legacy points.
I don't think one has to read online instructions for an immersive game to get necessary info, nor do i intend to.

b) all of my 6-7 levels 25-30 chars then, have not contributed ANYTHING to potential legacy as only the rush-to-50 play style seems to be rewarded/supported.

WTG.

Yes, you are correct.

You're trying to "game" the system. Nothing wrong with that. However, the Legacy System is intended to be more of a "storyline" or "role-playing" element. That's why it's unlocked by completing part of the story, and isn't inherently tied to reaching a specific level.

Btw, I'm pretty sure that the tutorials mention this, and I at least found this information hard to avoid when playing that game. That being said, there isn't anything that continuously pops up saying, "Hurry and get to the end of Act 1 on a character so you can unlock your Legacy," other than the tutorial, which does exactly that.

Regardless, I can see how if you missed this info, and preferred to play the way you have been, that you might be pretty mad about this. But, the xp that you would have been earning towards your Legacy would not have been much. You earn tons more once you reach level 50 by doing FPs and Dailies, etc.

So, I wouldn't let it get you down. It's nothing you won't easily make up for in about one day of playing once you have a level 50 (an exaggeration, I know, but the point remains).

approximately, yes. But i am not really mad, just puzzled (or apalled) that such an effort in programming (that legacy is - when you open all the subwindows/family tree?? for no use etc) is being totally HIDDEN from the player.

& no, the note about legacy appears only after you reach chapter I end (i did that @ lvl 30 with my juggernaut) when the symbol for legacy lights atop.

There seem to be plethora of semiuseless subscreens in Legacy, some buttons seem to be activated and not locked (like brawling), but say "need be paid for", others have locked icons on them and no "price" visible etc. The great reward for completing Chapter I for which i travelled to Space Station was 368 legacy points .. (!?) .. barely visible tick on legacy bar at all.

The legacy item i got could buy me a lvl 14 non-moddable lightsword which noone needs only, nothing else.
[my alts benefit more by modding FP hilts or hilts i make]

================================================== =============

Quite baffled still, is there some guide online as to what do legacy screens/features intend to accomplish?

the Legacy Weapon is for an alt, not the character who gets it. It may be unmoddable, but at level 14 it will have roughly double the stats of a moddable fitted with the best purple mods you can put in at that level. It will remain the best weapon you can be using for about 10 levels thereafter.

I definitely agree with you on the Legacy Item Rewards not being very stellar. If you mouse over those icons in your Legacy window, you'll see that the primary use of Legacy is to prevent you from being able to buy or otherwise acquire those nifty "powers." Most of them say, "Must be Legacy Level 10 to Buy." That kind of stuff.

But, those abilities are pretty sweet. I'd recommend buying both levels of Legacy of Leadership on all of your characters so that it only takes 5 seconds for your companions to sell junk items (VERY handy), and Legacy Speeder License (let's you use a speeder at level 10) which is very helpful if you also get the refer a friend speeder (essentially, a level 3 speeder, but can be used as a level 1 speeder), that is, assuming you still have any alts that are under level 50.

Rocket Boost, if you have the money, is also incredibly helpful, and that's Legacy wide, so you only have to buy it once.

Semi off-topic:
I keep hearing/seeing that and other large values bandied around for credits, but the one and only time I did Dailies, it took way longer than an hour and I didn't even get done in that 1 1/2+ hours I played, and I'm pretty sure I wasn't pulling down 300K+ in credits.

So, why do people say it takes so little time to play? What tricks are they doing?

In my experience, I feel like I've been beaten over the head by the Legacy system. To be fair, I was already here when it launched, so I saw every news article and post about the system. However, once you do get a character past Act 1, I think BW does a good job of getting the news out to you. You have a Legacy bar, and you get an animation every time you gain a Legacy level, and the tutorial now kicks in about legacy as well.

I'd like to say one other thing about leveling alts - I'm also alt-happy, and had 5-6 characters in the level 20-30 range. However, I soon found that the game was a lot more fun to play one at a time. For a game that's really story-based, I've found it much more fun to play through one whole story before starting the next. Plus, with the enormous credit inflation, alts get really easy once you have one at level 50.

Someone else gave me this same advice when I had a bunch of toons where you are now, and I didn't listen at first. If you want to keep playing it that way, more power to you - this game is only fun when you play it your own way. However, now that you've had a chance to play many of the classes, you might want to consider picking your favorite & going with it, and coming back to your alts later. You'll learn so much stuff as you level that you'll keep telling yourself "Wow, I wish I would have known this 10 levels ago!" Then, armed with your new knowledge, leveling your alts will be more fun.

Illum - 20 min without heroic, maybe 30 with heroic
Corellia - 15~20 min without ninjas and heroic, 40~50 with heroic and some ninjas
Belsavis - 40~50 min without heroics, 1h20 with heroics

And it's around 300k credits, but I can't believe you'll do all quests 12 days in a row. You'll want to kill yourself before that.

My stand point... learn to ask questions in General Chat. Problem solved, stupidity avoided. Seriously, type in your chat box, "/1 How do you unlock legacy/surname for your character?" You would most likely be responded by a few trolls saying, "Get to lvl 100." or "Complete every raid." But, there would be at least one person who would answer, "Complete Act 1." or something similar. Boom, question answered, move on from there. You now know to level at least one character passed Act 1 so that you can gain all of the benefits of Legacy (benefits you would already know of based upon being advertised all the info constantly both in-game and on the site). However, being confused or appalled... at a perfectly fine system just because you lack the intelligence or attention span to find an answer is just sad. Legacy is a system to be unlocked, a system to encourage alts or changes in play style, a system to reward spending hours upon hours playing the game. It's not meant to just be a feature that is spoon fed to you like the causal masses beg for on a daily basis. It's about unlocking, not handing out. So, put a little thought into it and don't complain because you screwed yourself over by not putting the tiniest bit of effort into finding the answer. Also, there's the really neat new age thing out called Google.com or better yet, go straight to the source, swtor.com.
