It's like an EBay in space, where players put items up for sale and other players can buy them. It's called an Auction House in other games.

Because hutts love munneh.

But yeah, you can put up items to send to other people for a profit or you can find stuff other people put up and send some credits to them through the mail automatically to recieve the item.
