This has been true for the last 3 MMOs I have played, so it's not as uncommon as you think. In the case of something like Eve Online, the company's CEO had to personally step in and write a letter to the fanbase. The communication problems with Bioware is endemic to EA as a whole, so it's not surprising that had the situations even further gone unresolved, the doctors would probably have had their hands tied, just like the DICE teams had with Battlefield 3. Sometimes you really have to wonder about letting all your disgruntled players air their frustration in public since no company would actually be able to air their own dirty laundry there too. Finally, you figure all the truly capable communications people wouldn't be sitting around a game company, they'd probably be working for Halliburton or a politician's office or something.

EDIT: anyway, it looks like some CM heard you, see http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=5239140
Having been both a dev and a Tom Symkowski, I can tell you that both the "I'm unable to reproduce this bug" and finding the root cause of the bug or finding the offending piece of code contributing to the bug can take time. A ticket can literally go through a cycle of CLOSED: WORKSFORME or INCOMPLETE and customer REOPENS for weeks. Not to mention weeding out and consolidating all the DUPLICATES and UNCONFIRMED. If anything the layoffs didn't help.

1.3.8 = 8 days for graphic issues
Supposedly oct 9 fixes 1.4 issues = 13 days for graphical issues

Do we get a free month for playing a half broken game?

As most of you know, over the past few months, our team, our studio, and our game have undergone quite a few changes. Through it all, we’ve remained committed to the community and have worked with the development team to make sure that your voices were heard.

I wanted to take some time to reassure you all that my team, the community team, is still committed to you folks. As part of this commitment, we’re excited to let you know that we have been developing a brand new strategy for our team that focuses on developing new ways to bring you more information about the game and the people involved with SWTOR's development.

As we progress towards the recently announced Free-to-Play experience, you can expect more frequent updates to the game (which means more information coming to you) and more developer interactions.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic community is large and spread across many outlets, but rest assured that our team is scouring the forums, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, fan sites, and anywhere that SWTOR is being discussed to make sure that we get your thoughts, comments, questions, and general feedback. Know that we are listening you, no matter where you choose to participate in the SWTOR community.

In the upcoming weeks, you’ll be seeing elements of our new community strategy as they appear on our site. One of our primary goals with this is to ensure that new information about the game is communicated as quickly and effectively as possible.

Last but not least, I will be re-introducing the rest of community team along with this new strategy. You may have already seen them here on the forums or on the website, but you will learn more about Allison Berryman, Eric Musco, Courtney Woods, Amber Green, Lars Malcharek, and Antonio Moreno.

We're all excited about the future of this game and with the new focus on more frequent content updates and the introduction of the Free-to-Play experience, you can expect more communication opportunities overall.

If you have any questions, thoughts, or ideas, please feel free to send us an email at community@swtor.com. You can also send me a PM here on the forums or reach me on Twitter @joveth. These are three different ways for you to get in touch. We will limit important announcements to only occur on our site, forums, our Facebook page, and/or the official SWTOR Twitter account.

Thank you, sincerely, for participating and being a part of our community over the past few months. We look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
While you make the commitment, you don't follow through with action. Funny how you woun't give times or deadlines for updates and fixes citing not wanting to break commitments and then make a commitment and then break it. I guess with your track record, you don't want to make any more commitments than you have to since you know you are going to break them. To a point, I understand. I hope you see from my standpoint - why continue support for someone who does not even believe in themselves?
It's amazing how loud a dollar can be.

How on earth can you possibly justify posting this.. Time and time again you promise frequent updates better communication and much much more that you fail to deliver..

We are over it!!

You make a promise about better communication, however for every single player inn the Oceanic region we have been waiting for over 3 weeks for a response to our quest for a server merge.. Which you personally promised would be evaluated in the next "FEW DAYS" you show zero concern for your paying customers... and you make small one line communication that basically tell us nothing..

This is the biggest cop out post i have ever seen.. and I am extremely disappointed.. The words "Committed" and "communication" obviously dont mean the same thing to you.

Go check the server merger discussion you made a post on page 9 now 3 weeks later it is at page 42 and you continue to ignore the lot of us.. How about you actually stop making posts about better communication and actually communicate?? strange thought.

Oh and you have managed to respond to posts here over 5 times.. yet in the month we have been questing for a server merge you have managed one response?..

This is a joke.. and I have zero faith in your team actually lifting their game and actually communicating.

Not only is the dev's failure in managing this game old news, but so is this post. This is a month old...

Wasted effort. It's over, last guy turns off the light.

Swtor's only use is to serve as a memorial on how not to design an mmo. Tons of money and the Star Wars franchise make not a good game when you hire the wrong studio. Bioware Austin is a riffraff of designers from failed mmos like WAR. EA just went and put the Bioware tag on the studio, but in reality it had nothing to do with Bioware, it was a Frankenstein creation by EA.

Let's hope the game becomes unprofitable soon - remember they probably have to pay a ton to George Lucas for the Star Wars IP, which is also why they need 500k subs to stay profitable. Once they are below that EA will pull the plug, and then the franchise will be available again for a real Star Wars mmo made by a real studio.

How about shutting down the Troll threads instead of allowing them to stay open for an entire day or longer?
Looking for a good woman. Able to clean, cook, sew, catch bait, and clean fish. Must have boat and motor.

It's not a failing of managing old posts, it's a failing of communication. This stays up because EA has made so many people angry.

It was added to the sticky on top-reported bugs – which are all high priority fixes – three days ago. It will be fixed when they a.) find what broke it and b.) figure out how to put that right. Short answer, when it's fixed.
