  • Set shadows to low or off.
  • Turn nameplate scaling off.
  • Delete DiskCacheArena which is by default found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Bioware\Star Wars - The Old Republic\swtor
  • Delete client_settings which is by default found in the settings folder at C:\users\%USERNAME%\appdata\local\SWTOR\swtor\
When you get in-game, set your graphics options to your preferences.
  • Perform a Clean boot.
  • Perform a clean install of latest non-beta video driver.

Please also see our Senior Community Coordinator Allison Berrymans' post on 1.4 performance issues.

Thank you for your continuing patience regarding this issue.
Did everything above, still experiencing shuttering/map blinking in fullscreen mode, when CrossFire is on. Sending a mail to support@swtor.com with diag. Now i'm curious.

Why are support giving the same stock answers to everyone with the same graphics issues, NONE of your supposed fixes work.

You patched the game at 1.4 and have broken the game engine and it needs rolling back and your "Optimization" need ripping apart and slinging back on the drawing board. This game was graphically fantastic before, I was running it on Max settings and Max res and it looked great, the shadows looked good and made this game look so much more alive. This game was hemorrhaging subs as it was without you making so that 50% of users regardless of SLI/Xfire have an unplayable game experience, for god's sake you've make the graphics stutter so bad that its causing motion sickness and nausea!

This needs sorting and sorting now.

Does complete fabrication of information make you feel better?!

There are still a lot of people with issues but I've yet to see any shortage of people in-game playing (and in these tech support forums there are only a few dozen people indicating that they are STILL experiencing issues after trying the workarounds... I was just on Dromund Kaas and there were 180 imps running around). I'm even getting better performance on my main computer post 1.4.

Drama will not fix anything. Bioware has stated that they are working on it.

Let's address this part first. They give stock answers based on what trial and error have shown could help some users, and for some users, these answers have helped get them back into the game, better or worse, without the irritating microstutters. It's troubleshooting 101. Try a set list of possible solutions, if they solve the issue, mission accomplished. If they do not solve the issue, the user comes back, provides the feedback, and with that set of information, plus system specs and whatever else is needed, the techs work off this collective information to derive new strategies to locate the issue origin and resolve it.

Statistically speaking, unicorns are 75% more likely to be male, than female. If you have hard, numerical facts to back up your self-derived statement, so be it, show them, and let them be a legitimate talking point in a suiting location appropriate to the issue at hand. This is the Customer Support forum, and while you believe your "facts" are helping whatever agenda you're trying to aim for, they are not helping the players with issues resolve them. As far as the nausea or motion sickness that a very select number of players are experiencing, in all honesty, that falls to a certain level of personal responsibility on that player's part. Yes, it's frustrating that those experiencing microstutters can't play the game as intended, but if you play at the risk of your own health, you have only yourself to blame.

So it's clear, I am also experiencing the microstutters, and thus far the solutions presented have not resolved my issue, but threats, demands, false information, rumor starting, general rudeness and the like are not in any way, nor have ever been, helpful to obtaining a resolution. Those that believe so are sadly mistaken.

To Skylerr, if no one else has said it, you are doing a great job helping fellow players to the level you have been, and it'd be great if more people would actually try going your route.

I have a great deal of appreciation for everything you've said. I have an huge weakness for arguing with people that make crazy claims so I can get myself in trouble but I am just trying to help

I understand why some people are frustrated but spewing vitriol all over the forums only serves to bury threads that might actually be helpful!

i think all us unofficial tech support guys have a weakness of wanting to argue with these guys, now what has been said with this and above i agree with all that has been said, @ other guy nice to no other players respect some others who try help always nice when BW/CS says to you good job etc (for example)
Spoiler
but great when other players say thanks

(you will norm see me hanging around connection errors/download but always need to take a break when ppl start to rage and cry at BW when user side connection issues or them using 3g which can produce weird responces when downloading (can tell this if you attempt a tracert/pathping ... not everyone encounters problems with it but it is mostly encountered if you download with it)

And now, to add insult to injury, I log in tonight and I get a popup "New Graphics Settings are available, recalabrate now?"

So i get all excited, click OK and the stuttering and low framerates come back.

/facepalm

Ok point taken you two, my generalizations and plucked percentages aside, I think you are well aware of the point I was attempting to make, all be it not perfectly presented.

At least one of you actually spent a couple of words getting to the point - As of 1.4 the stuttering started and they haven't fixed it yet. Skylerr I'm so glad that you are having better performance since the patch, but that doesn't seem to be the case for everyone. I didn't need any better performance, everything was running at max and it looked lovely. Until the patch.

And TRYW I appreciate you answering the thing about Stock answer and Trial and Error literally, but come on, you know what i mean. You have seen the threads I have, lots of stock answers given telling people to do things they already have to resolve issues caused by things that won't be effected by the "solution" being provided.
I do understand that some feedback will assist with the debugging but sadly we all know this should never have made it out of the Test server.

And the remark about the nausea, you either misunderstood or just wanted to bite back some more. A lot of the people i've spoken to have commented that they can't now play for an period of time without the stuttering making them uneasy, I agree with that, those stutters make it uncomfortable to play.

The only fixes offered so far are pretty poor compromises if anything for the most part - Most of the workarounds require you to run the game at significantly lower quality while we continue to pay full price for the privilege.

I don't know about you two, but as far as i'm concerned its unacceptable, i'm not acting all entitled and whatnot this isn't the whole complaining about things that are provided free of charge etc. I do pay to play this game and at the moment that service is not being provided, but will they refund my sub in part or in full ?? Not a chance.

From what i've read on the forums we will get exactly ZERO in return. Apparently EA have managed to make themselves immune to UK consumer law and I can't see a refund of any part of sub costs regardless how long the game remains unplayable.

I do understand how unbelievably complex a game we are talking about and i'm not without sympathy for the devs, they have not exactly been given the backing they need by the company, but Bugs the like that we've seen since 1.4 was implemented would result in an instant rollback anywhere else.

Look I didn't want to upset either of you in my reply and my original post was a spur of the moment thing and not well thought out, but I'm sure you see all my points are valid, and i'm just another upset sub that wants to play the game he loves and pays a pretty penny for, and can't.

Peace.

well they are based in america ... and i am sure their contract is american based not uk.... but you do have to phone up to do with anything money related (maybe not a full refund but you could get the time left un playable extended on the game ) some ppl have been able to pause their subscription so they have X days free time when they come back, bit like booking a last minute holiday and go woops i just paid for swtor... (i dont agree with this bit but i understand ... ohwell up to them)

well i understand you to... but CS are nice guys, be nice to them get their respect ... they might be nice back and try harder to solve a problem in future

i can agree that it should not have made it out of public test server but ppl want instant fix's they dont want to cause a mass rage quit because they have rolled back and caused another bug where ppl have lost gear that got released ... they could just reset the shadows but they have already started the fix's on that

i can understand about trial and error but these fix's are all user side and user side graphics which can be disabled yes not in all case's my estimate is about 30% or less have been having graphical issues (mid range computers like mine was not heavy affected at all but i have had performance boosts from what they doing) anyway i got a technical support class starting in a hour and half ill prob look back here then.

have a good day

Anyone got a vid of the studder so people can see what we are talking about? I tried to fraps mine and as soon as I hit record the studder went away and came back the instant I stopped recording.
