I don't even know if I would be able to keep all my characters in my head if I had that many slots. "Wait, where you the one that grew up on a backwater planet longing for revenge on the Sith Lord that stole you little sister or was it one of the other 12 smugglers?". And I would probably spend half an evening looking for the cool bowcaster I got but unfortunately forgot which trooper vanguard I sent it to. How many cargobays do you have to look through at that point =)

I'm aiming for 12 and then I'll probably call stop. Or we'll see. I love creating new characters.

Come on people.. Everyone got 12 - 4 more than what they had. Be happy!..

Yes, some were clever and quickly made 8 placeholder toons on the destination server.. But they can't erase them and create new. It's not like they have 16 slots, they have 12 slots and 16 characters..

The 8 new characters were also created without your legacy race options and so on.

So basically you're now angry because BW gave you something new you weren't promised, and you didn't have the foresight to do what other people did to get 16 slots..
Personally myself, I thought about doing just this, but for those extra 4 slots I'd really like my legacy options availiable.

Oh, and I'd like to create a Cather when they come out.. The people who did this trick will have to delete 5 characters to get one!!!..

This thanks is being heard too seldomly. BW, know you do have some customers with gratitude. I love the new character slots. I made two new characters last night, and am waiting to make two more to decide what one of them will be, and the other, I'm optimistically waiting to be able to create a Tugruta. I also had a blast remaking my Legacy Family Tree. I no longer have to have my two main characters on one server with all their friends and enemies, and their children on another server. I'm happy, and I love my new characters already. Thank you, BioWare.

I don't like suggesting people are ignorant or trollishly calling someone names, but, as well intentioned as the above comment is, it's also a woefully ignorant statement by a person who hasn't thought things through.

First, you suggest that players who didn't get 16 slots--and yes, those who created 8 characters on the destination server do effectively get 16 slots--failed to do so as a lack of foresight. If you will recall players had approximately 12 hour warning of what was happening. If you happened to be working that day and didn't get "the memo", if you happened to not log in that day, if any number of circumstances that have nothing to do with a lack of foresight occured you didn't get the opportunity to make new characters that many did. Whether those players will ever use those additional slots or not, it creates resentment.

And, to be clear on this, I DID get my 8 additional toons on the destination server, all carefully crafted to allow me to play every class without the need or desire to have to delete any. I even made a point of letting guildies and other players know of this exploit so they could also take advantage of it. Because yes, as long as you were smart in your character creation you should have no reason to delete and thus will have 16 functional character slots, not 12.

I'm not complaining because, I didn't get the slots, since I did. I'm merely pointing out that this was a good idea gone awry because of an ill conceived implementation with the result that as many customers are unhappy as are happy.

Yes, yes, kudos to the deves for giving us additional character slots. Pats on the back all around for that. But still, it was poorly done folks when you created an exploit that would result in completely unjustified and entirely avoidable disparate treatment of your player base. If the servers can handle the the 16 slots being allowed to some, then surely they can handle them for all, so why even have the disparity?

Then there is the simple marketing economics involved. SWTOR is a stupidly simple game to level in, reach end game and burn through that content fairly quickly. The only thing that is keeping many people is the desire to try other classes and see the different story lines. So, while 16 characters seems like alot, it's not really when you consider that you have 16 playable character classes with which to try to keep players hanging around until new content can be delivered. Most people probably won't use them, or if they do they won't level that many characters to end game, but they'll be happier for having the option of trying other classes without the need to delete existing characters. And they'll be happier for knowing that they're being treated the same as other players.

16 playable classes, 16 combined slots between the servers merged...16 is the magic number, not 12.

But whatever, as I said I got my 16 so I'm good. I just feel sorry for those who weren't as fortunate as I was to be able to do so in the very short time it was available.

Maybe they learned some lessons. It's almost like you want them to not do it now because they didn't do it then.

Still waiting on my four as well. It makes me feel like a valued customer when I pay the same subscription as everyone else, without equal benefits.
