So what you're telling me is...

We cannot know if the game is dead, unless we actually log in and find it dead?

I think that level of simplicity and clear thinking is disallowed the forums. May have to check the ToS.

Nobody can access a locked server unless they already have characters on it. So that means only returning veterans. So we can eliminate the new player base from the equation completely, which frankly would be the most vulnerable segment to misperception.

Now, if a returning veteran is not savvy enough to be informed of the main elements of the current state of the game, why did they come back and resub?? And any way you slice it, locked origin servers and character transfers is a main element of the current state of the game. It is VERY common knowledge that server transfers went live in early summer, so I find it hard to believe a veteran would not already know this AND be able to put 2 and 2 together and come up with 4.

Given all of the above, if the resubscriber in question is somehow unable to connect the dots (seeing an empty server, seeing alert notices pop-up on screen, tabbing back and checking server select and seeing live servers at the top of the list and lots of locked servers) and not at least go brush up on the state of the game..... well then we really did not lose anything significant in the gene pool contribution to the player base.

TL;DR: NO, I don't buy in to your premise of concern in the original post.
Good job..Keep up all the hard work.................idk what we would do w/o you

checking the ToS is also disallowed on these forums... ironically it's against the ToS

Okay, I found two provisions that apply here:

1) All posts must be rambling walls-of-text with confused logic and scant evidence.

2) All posts must discuss how SWTOR is either dying or dead.

There you have it... everytime I've discussed how I actually like playing, I've been in clear contravention of the rules. May have to report myself.

EDIT: Also this isn't aimed at the OP. I just seem to hear about how SWTOR is dead quite a bit on these forums. Your point about perception in that specific context is a fair one.

I'm pretty sure reporting yourself is against the rules so I'm gonna have to go ahead and report you for that

nothing personal you understand...

dead is not an objective measurement applied to a game so unless there are actually no players, the game is not dead.

As long as I can find parties for pretty much every Heroic, I can do warzones within a reasonable amount of time and on prime-time there are multiple instances on the fleet....no its not dead imo. Nor do i notice an ongoing decrease in players btw.

First, the game many of you have been tracking closely, Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Although it launched well, subscriptions have been on a declining trajectory and have now slipped below one million. Last year we announced that the breakeven point was roughly 500,000 subscribers. And while we are well above that today, that’s not good enough. The message from players exiting the game is clear – 40 percent say they were turned off by the monthly subscription. And many indicated they would come back if we offered a free-to-play model. Our plan now is to pivot and provide a two-tiered pricing plan which will make the game more accessible and grow the audience. The new pricing will go into effect in November.
Make of that what you will, seems pretty open and honest to me.

Sounds like they think their player base is cheap. Not sure how I feel about that.

Well do to the current job market and our diminishing earnings as a nation, yep, we are. 15.00 a month to some is a pizza with the family and maybe not feeling so depressed about their lives and lack of income.
