The OP is in reference to the PERCEPTION that the game is dead because returning players log in to origin servers not realizing they need to transfer off of them.
My response is a reply to the general perception that the game is dead. It's not. I then listed the reason that we hear all the doom and gloom. It's not hard to put that all together.

True and false. You can choose to not like the game and that would be fine but you reason better actually have merit if you want to be taken seriously and contribute to a discussion of the game. Otherwise it's dismissed as a: "This game has too many bugs! I hate everything!! WAH!!!" post.

That's the point I was trying to make. Too many people pick on the little things and let it ruin their experience, then they rage on forums and bring others down too. That in turn leads to the PERCEPTION that the game is dead. It turns off new people to the game because clearly if it's in the forums it must be true.

This isn't the reason people say the game is dead.

+1. It has nothing to do with the OP's post. New players can't play on those servers.

In your opinion

All the complaints would make you think otherwise though. People are level 1000 complainers on the forum or other sites about this game. Anytime they can take a shot at it, they do because it's the cool thing to do.

I will say that I have seen some ridiculous complaining on these boards and people will cry about anything and everything, however while I think a small minority do this or (complain because it's the cool thing to do) I think it's a rather small percentage of the people compaired to those who have a legit complaint. A lot of the complaints about the game itself are actually peoples opinions on how they view what is wrong with the game. While they might not share your opinion, it's still just that, an opinion and everyone is able to share it (unless of course you just get reported because someone doesn't like your opinion and your post/thread get removed).

On the other hand, some of the complaints come from fact (Only 4 Warzones, removed Ilum.. just a couple for example). We can't argue these and the fact they are problems in the game. So while I agree with people are level 1000 complainers I also think some have a right to be.

Why all the hate? SWTOR does a much better job presenting you with the mundane than the other games due to the cutscenes and voice acting. I guess if you are bored with the quests it's because you feel that spacebaring through the dialog is such a chore. Choose a different reply to a quest conversation next time when you have a choice, some of them are pretty entertaining.

Again, your opinion. You happen to enjoy story, I dont. Not everyone is just like you, or me. Everyone has their own playstyle. I skipped most of the stories because I am not interested in story. If I wanted a story, I'd read a book or watch a movie. I game to spend time with friends, I happen to love Star Wars and MMOs but this is what's left for me to play so I TRY to make the best out of it however it gets so stale quite fast for me and a lot of my friends have moved on (which I don't blame them).

The MMO aspects of this game are lacking? There is PVP, PVE (Ops, flashpoints, world bosses, etc) , you can choose to be social and interact with others. When the game came out people were raging that there was no group finder, well it's there now. So many of the complaints are such minor things it's incredible. What in the world did people ever do without group finder? /sarcasm

I agree, It's still an MMO. But the reason people are calling it a single player game is simply right now, there isn't enough end game content and just about everyone says "Roll another toon and enjoy all the stories" until we get more end game. What do you think the 1-49 part of this game mostly is? It's a single player/co-op game with some group content. I think atleast this is why people would think that.

The biggest and most legitimate complaint (and the one issue that did the most damage to the game) would have been server populations but that is no longer an issue as it's been resolved. The people that had accounts on inactive server got emails to transfer, there is a ton of information out there. Gamers are responsible for keeping up with it.

Yeah, they dropped the ball on this one pretty bad. Had they not waited as long I think a lot of the problems that came from this wouldn't have happened or not been nearly as bad.

The point is that if you want to compare this to WoW it's not fair. WoW has 7 years of post release active development and content. SWTOR is a new, interesting game with a ton of potential and it will only improve if gamers will give it a fair chance, which they won't.

Lol, it's kind of hard NOT to compare this to WoW. What's funny about that statement I just made is, I JUST started playing WoW to see what all the talk was about. The 2 games are very similar with a lot of things (Nice example of 1 thing). I understand where you're coming from tho, 7 years of content vs the under a year mark for SWTOR. I get that but let's just put this 1 thing up for arguement, Achievements. So many people work on these, all the time in my short period of time in WoW. Everyone I talk to loves them! I know I would and have in previous MMOs, so how could SWTOR miss the mark on something like this? It's simple and really, they have a codex in the game, if they wanted to they could have just expanded on this and look how much stuff there would have been to do by just adding achievements that reward fluff and titles.

There is a large portion of MMO gamers that for whatever reason want this game to fail. They go out of their way to make everything negative and completely !@#$ on this game at every opportunity in forums or word of mouth. Negativity spreads like herpes and it's just as bad. It's undeserved.

Yeah, there will be these people no matter where you go. Just ignore them and remember, they'll be the old lonely guys yelling at kids to get off their grass.

The point is that people complain just to complain. I'm convinced that the majority of gamers have no idea whatsoever what they want in a game. They are willing to try the latest thing play the heck out of it for a month or two, declare it sucks (hey that's the cool thing to do) and move on to the next one.

I can tell you exactly what I want in a game and I'm sure a lot of others could as well. The trick here is that so many people want so many different things that there is no 'utopia" of MMOs. There is always going to be someone not happy about something.

Form your own opinions from your own in game experience.

TL;DR: Negativity about this game is complete BS.

I'm sorry but I have to laugh at these last 2 here... Contradicting yourself much?

SWTOR is believed to be dead, and it must let the world think that it is dead, until it can find a way to control the raging fail that dwells within it.

Well if you haven't logged in yet .. then you don't actually know if the game is dead or alive. In fact, given the "perception" you seem to be reporting from the game is both dead and alive at the same time. Sorta like schrodinger's cat.
