Why I play can be simply stated as it is a fantasy world I want to be a part of. It inspires my imagination, it draws me into the world (immerssion), and it looks, sounds, and feels really good. BW created a really high quality star wars world to play it....everything else is the same old neverland with fireballs and dragons.

The complains about swtor all center around BW learning how to make a great "MMO". They spent a lot of time developing their strengths (story, immersion, etc), but not enough time developing their weakness (this is their first MMO). So, yes, they need to really work on being able to fix bugs in a timely manner, developed repeatable content that is fun to play over and over, etc so that they have the time and money to expand the content in the same high quality and in a meaningful way. Being their first MMO, I dont' think they realized just how fast players can chew through content and they didn't create enough repeatable content that was fun and rewarding to do again and again. That is really key to keeping players involved while they develop meaning content to expand the game.

But when I look at games like GW2, that everyone won't shut up about it seems, I only see the same thing that has been done for 15 years+. It is wow's neverland world, with modified mechanics, and a japanese anime influence. That just doesn't interest me anymore, and hasn't in many years.

I've been looking for a truly unique world/fantasy to get involved in for years and swtor is the only one that has offered it. Sure they used mostly wow's mechanics, but the world is star wars not the same old neverland, fireballs, and dragons.

This whole thread is pointless. There are some that really like SWTOR, and some that really dislike it. Those that hate it are free to go on and on about why it's terrible. Those that love it are free to go on and on about why it's great. But the bottom line is neither group is convincing the other of a darn thing.

Me? I really enjoy TOR. Been playing since launch, still having a lot of fun. Is it without fault? Heck no. But I'm still having fun and getting well more than my $15/month worth. And all the haters can come on here and list reason after reason that the game is terrible and that <insert other MMO here> is vastly superior and that I'm an idiot or don't know what a real MMO is, or haven't been exposed to a great game etc etc etc. They can say it all day long in big 48 point type and I don't care, because as long as I'm having fun I'll pay a sub and keep playing. When I'm not, I won't.

And those of us who like the game are just as unlikely to convince a hater that the game is great. What mental defect do so many MMO gamers have that if they like a game, stopping playing and paying isn't enough: they must spit vitriol and make everyone understand that they shouldn't like it either RAWR.

Here's a pro-tip: in the history of MMO forums, no lover of a game has ever been convinced to hate a game they enjoyed by a well-reasoned or nerdrage based post. Conversely, no hater of an MMO has ever come to love it because fanboys defended it with such valor.

Want to post why you're unhappy with the game? Go ahead. Want to post what you love about it? Sure, that can be constructive too. But why do so many gamers need to go past this and attempt to make others accept that their OPINION of a game is objective fact? What causes this bizarre behavior?

The game play isn't really much different then wow, look wise it is nice tho I wish they had brought the "big changes" to mmos they were talking about.
The only big difference in SWTOR to other MMOs is the story, that's it. Otherwise, it's just like all other MMOs out there and dos'nt even have features that are standard on most of those MMOs, like dual spec.

SWTOR is far from a "ground breaking" MMO.

People discussing back and forth (respectfully) different (even opposing) views is perfectly fine. It's actually healthy.

People who do not like the game, and in many cases no longer play the game continuing to post negative and often non-constuctive complaint posts..... that is the bizarre behavior IMO.

Seems to me that if you like a game you would talk about it on the games forum.

Seems to me if you like the game but have things about it you don't like or don't understand then you would also talk about it on the games forum. And this in fact makes for some of the best discussions, and would be threads that are of most constructive value to the developers.

But people who self-admittedly hate the game, don't play the game, and do nothing but negatively rant and complain are the ones I do not understand. It's counter-intutive.........unless their purpose is to try to make the forum miserable for players who still like the game.

I don't see how somebody can claim that any other game is a WoW copy, with modified mechanics, while playing TOR, which didn't even bother to modify the mechanics (or rename some of the skills, or even change some of the skills).

In Star Wars you don't have fireballs, you have flamethrowers and people shooting lightning out of their hands. In Star Wars you don't have dragons, you have Krayt... Dragons... (sadly you can't fight them in TOR), and demon things and ghosts and all other sorts of completely non-fantasy stuff.

I know what you mean here. SWTOR being in the Star Wars universe is a huge plus for me. I consider SWTOR a cookie cutter MMO (and yes, we have dragons and fireballs, etc too), but I love that it is science fiction and is Star Wars none the less.

If Bioware can just get their rear in gear, this would be a game that would be good for the long term for me. Alas, this is, so far, not so. But I'll check it out again when it goes F2P.

[QUOTE=LUCASCASADEIS;5145616]Hi Everyone, Today i'll talk about. why i love SWTOR, we could see many times why the people hate this game,
and sometimes i get tired for this. but now i want to make you happy lol, if u think we are a community and we don't need yell all the time and cry like kids. (of course this is my opinion and i want to play this game and enjoy without the precion of the bad people in this community) (sorry if you feel bad when i sat this)

1°: IT'S Not Fantasy. ( are u tired about Fantasy MMO?) well i am tired about fantasy MMO, Finally i can enjoy a game and it's not fantasy Lots of mmo are not fantasy this point is bunk
2° this is the most impportant thing why i think swtor is the best mmo. well take a guess why i think this but here is a track: "SW" (it's not difficult )Bunk again

3° LIGHTSABERS Woot!!!!! lol Green lightsaber use the wrong color and the red ones look horrible (poor color shading) oh yeah and the viroblades has the same sound effect as lightsabers

4°: i like the pvp here, it's true they need make World PVP with rewars but i like the pvp Stun lock = fun...... NOT

5° the voice is amazing. don't u like hear to malgus or satele shan or perhaps Mandalore ? hehehThis you got right

6° the leveling is very nice, it's good when you make another ALT and you don't have the same class story Bunk class story is about 20 to 30 hours max and then your doing the same quest as your main.

7°: PVE, The pve here is very good man, the operation are amazing and entertaining, (i want to play the new Operation right now ) [COLOR="red"][Space Bar Please, Space Bar Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8° The gameplay here is awesome. and i know i played Tera but i still prefer the gameplay of SWTOR Is that why they had 2mil in subs and now below 1mill?
