Look, i planned to be committed to SWTOR for years and still love this game, but I will re-evaluate whether i will stick around when my current 6 month sub runs out in Jan. By then, we need substantial content and more importantly... we need the devs to be open and honest with us. enough of the "we can't answer that just yet, or we don't have the answers let me ask a dev". We need open and honest communication, even if it isn't what we want to hear. Look at the WoW devs, they answer alot of questions in depth that the SWTOR team would just sweep under the rug and shrug their shoulders at. By the time my current 6 month sub runs out after f2p launches, we need to know whats coming in terms of content... what about open flight space combat with pvp? What about content past hk-51 and 1.4? What is the long term goals of the team of swtor? We need alot of info and honesty. Please devs, I want to stay with swtor but you guys have to be open and honest with us.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken. The force shall free me.

Ive decided to keep subscribing as well

But that doesnt mean EA gets a free pass

Things that still bug the ever living bleep outta me

- Stun Locking in PVP (just bad design)
- no pazzaak
- no swoop racing
- no housing
- Memory Leak still in effect from closed Beta on
- PVP Greifing allowed in PVE areas (again just bad design and no reason for it when this issue was addressed as far back as original EQ)

Things Id like to see added:

- Pazzaak and Swoop Racing (complete with special LONG QUEST LINES (HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS) to obtain special cards and bike parts)
- Wookie Home World (Full size ala Hoth)
- Better usage of world land space so Rep and Imp use most of any world map and not just their portion of it as currently the case
- Id like to see heroics treated like Flashpoints were at 50 you can do them in storymode (50), Hardmode, and Nightmare mode so there is some reusage of these instances on lower level planets (and more post 50 content)
- Anti LOS exploit (PVP) coding fix (its in Rift and numberous other games so no reason we cant have it added here to stop the kiddies from standing on you and running through you in PVP)
- Housing (be it EQ2 housing or decorating your ship ... though with how ships designed not sure decorating them all that viable a option)

In the end though its going to come down totwo things for me currently

1) Do we get the upcoming world as apart of our subscription or does EA try to milk us for more money?

The upcoming content patch (and yes its a content patch, NOT a expansion) does not qualify as a expansion to me (it would have to be 10 times the content listed to be called a expansion that could be sold for additional money above the ongoing subscription rate) and I will not pay extra for it.

If EA tries to charge me extra Ill pull my sub and go F2P as all my sub will get me is Ops (only do a couple anyways and seen it all already), Flashpoints (rarely do these), and maybe some restrictions on PVP (I can do with out honestly). Thats simply not worth my $15.00/month.

So any content short of a Rift sized Expansion needs to be covered in monthly sub or I just dont see the value in maintaining the subscription.

2) EA since start (and before really) has been ULTRA arrogant in how it deals with its cust base and that needs to stop. We need to start seeing bug and exploit fixes in a timely and consistant manner!

The greifing PVEer by forceing them to flag via multiple exploits been around since closed beta yet this still exists to this day. IT HAS TO BE STOPPED. There is no excuse.

Simply put EA has to start working for their customer and stop expecting their customer to keep working for them.

Closing: In truth, if I had not commited to a 6 month sub at the start, I would have cancelled by now and not looked back. Only reason I stayed is I spent the money so may as well get some use out of it. This game has been mishandled since the day the forums opened in 08 and if EA really expects F2P to bring in a profit they need to start working and developing for the customer.

When DDO went F2P there was weekly content updates (not just patchs but new content) to keep dangling that virtual carrot for the base to purchase or subscribe for. TOR needs to be much the same now. Fast content updates that are not buggy and broken.

My WoW guild has been around since BC and they are still raiding and paying subs. My lotro guild is long dead and that's the f2p model? Eve costs a fraction of what swtor did to make. The ROI isn't the same and that is how profitability is measured. I still play the game and will stay subbed at least until f2p drops.

I am trying to get Bioware and the community to see that f2p is not the answer. The problem is lack of content. F2p does not address the problem. Sub price was never the problem. Where is the content?
I agree with you 100%. Same thing happened in SWG. people were saying that everything is fine, but subs were dropping. And subs weren't dropping because it was a "sandbox". It was dropping because they refused to fix the bugs and add content. Even going through with the CU, it was still salvagable because all they had to do was add content and fix the bugs. But no. They went with a focus group of people who obviously never played the game and came up with the NGE. Then their entire playerbase left except for the extreme die hards.

I bring that up because it is the same thing here. People are painting the wrong picture of what is wrong with the game and what it needs to fix it. The sub isn't the problem. The game is and the lack of things to do at 50. The PvPers aren't happy (rightfully so) because they were promised compelling PvP and open world content. Bioware never delivered. The space on rails? Really? If a game made in 2002 can come up with a Star Wars space flight simulator, why can't a game made being developed from 2008 on up create one? Heck. Flight simulators have been around ever since I've been playing video games and I'm 36. Falcon was one of the best simulators out there and that was out in the early 90's. And we end up with Starfox? Lol. SMDH. As I have always said before. The 3 unsubscribers threads says it all and none of the reasons is because they couldn't afford $15 dollars a month.

EA/Bioware can mail/email a copy of the game to every person on the planet and charge nothing for it. It still doesn't change the fact that people are bored at level 50 with nothing else to do but roll an alt and that gets tiring after your 2nd to 3rd one.

I believe it was well before that. I was lucky enough to get to go to the guild summit back in March. There was what you could watch via the live cast....then there were the things said off to the side. I felt there was a strong sense of panic and desperation in what they were asking and saying.

P.S. Jeff Hickman is not my favorite person to have in charge of a games direction.

.
The people running this game have always been delusional, that is why it failed in the first place. When they finaly started to embrace the things they left out of the game and didnt think a modern mmo needed i had hope, but now its become pretty apparent that they dont have the capability to implement these changes and are still pretty out of touch with the mmo genre in other areas. Im really finding it harder than ever to stay subbed to this game.

I'm thinking the whole server merge side tracked any chance of updates for at least two months. Now the ftp option is going to take some time away also. I honestly think that if players had stuck around for a while all that content that they had promised would have come, and the bean counters at the front office would not have been so quick to jump and set a new course. Most unfortunate but it is what it is.
May the Schwartz be with you....

I dont know when they decided F2P but the panic had to set in at pre launch.

ALOT of subs quit during pre launch with the "staged" entrances (even though no one was told this was the way before they purchased game), the insult by Community guy at people asking about game on twitter (where he said to stop bothering him so he can focus on things that are important"......whats more important then your customer base???), The optical impression of EA closing up shop every day at 3 pm while people who took holidays to play game in pre launch watched from outside in fustration.

Simple fact is this game has been one PR screw up after another since the web site opened in 08 and THATS whats hurt the game more then anything else (even more then content issues).

As for content, the content is in game actually, its the speed we go through content thats the problem.

I even sent in feedback in closed beta on this telling them if game stayed at current speed it was in closed beta the players would eat up the content so fast there is no way they could keep up to the demand.

EAs answer to that was to make leveling even faster come release.

TOR has the content
TOR has more content then most games that launch
You just gobble up the content so fast in TOR it gives impression of being content light

This was predictable
This was for warned by many of us pre WOW experienced players

EA ignored and now paying the price for their arrogance in ignorance of subject.

MOST of TOR problems are Developer and Personal created and ALL could have easily been avoided.

So yeah, I think the bleeding started day 1 of pre launch but wasnt till now they admitted it (in a round about way). Its funny to see some posters still insisting this game a success and going strong. But as pointed out, some misguided folk still claim SWG was a success and going strong when it closed down.

You can spin it any way you like fact is GW2 didn't rule the world as predicted and didn't really even do better than SWTOR.
GW 2 sold so well it completely surprised the people who made it and they have had to add servers and call a halt on digital sales while they catch up. [I]The people who expected nothing but the best in terms of game sales, were completed shocked at how well it has sold. [/I ]Also, most of the people I know in the game ignored the box copies and purchased the digital only copy because it was slightly cheaper. SWTOR had the Star Wars IP behind it, of course it out sold everyone. Yet even with all of those sales, the game has less than 1 million subscribers and is going free to play before it's first year is out. GW 2 is not selling at a mediocre rate. It doesn't have the Star Wars IP behind it. If you really think that GW 2 is doing so poorly, then why has it already reached 1 million sales:

As for SWTOR, the OP and others are absolutely correct. The game was mismanaged and poorly designed and F2P will put it on life support, just like it has the other games that started with a sub model and went F2P.

Edit: Oh, and for the record, I'm not a committed subscriber. I'm waiting for my sub to run out, which should happen this month. Just to keep things honest.
Edited because the devs appear to have fixed at least 80% of the crap that was pissing me off.
