Remove Randomness from Reverse Engineering

Reverse engineering is an interesting idea, but the current implementation has one major issue: randomness means that you will sometimes have long streaks of bad luck. I believe this is a bigger issue than the designers expected when they created the system.

There are two main reasons that this is a problem:
1. People expect to be lucky, so when they get a new schematic "early" it seems normal, but when they have a long streak of bad luck, it is incredibly unpleasant.

2. People like to see progress toward a goal, rather than just knowing that they have a small chance of being successful. This is what makes a grind much more tolerable - knowing that you're further along toward a goal than you were before.

My suggestion is to change the reverse engineering system from a "20% chance" type of system to a "do it 5 times" type of system. I believe this still allows for the option of pleasant surprises (small chance of success earlier than the listed amount), but removes the problems listed above. It also allows for new options, such as requiring the reverse engineering of several different items before a new schematic is available (example: combo stims that require reverse engineering two different types of stims to learn the schematic).

Of course, there's an impact to the interface where we have to find a new way to show goals toward schematics and how far along toward that goal you are, but I think this would fit with the stated desire to revamp the crafting interface to accommodate large numbers of schematics.

Note that a less impactful alternative would be to have a hidden counter that keeps track of your reverse engineering and caps bad luck streaks. However, I think this would not fully resolve the issues, especially those related to perception of progress.

Provide Better Indicators of Who Enemies are Targeting

Although the interface now includes a way to show your target's target, there is still a problem where it is extremely difficult to tell how a large group of enemies is targeting. This problem is worse with SWTOR than with other games for two reasons:

1. Tanks have a limited amount of aoe attacks available, leading to lower confidence that the tank is the target of all enemies.

2. Something like half of all enemies are ranged, which leads to many situations where enemies and/or allies are not clearly in view on the screen.

I don't have a great solution for this in mind. The first thing that occurs to me is an option in the preferences that shows a line from each enemy to their target, but I'm sure that would be quite confusing to look at. Luckily, the SWTOR team has lots of better video game designers than me, so I'm sure they can come up with a great solution!

Account for More Use Cases with the GTN Filters

I believe the GTN does not account for some of the most common use cases that people have for buying things and would love to see it updated to account for them. I realize that my own list is not going to be inclusive of all use cases, so please consider these to be examples. Here are a couple of common use cases for me that are quite difficult on the GTN today:

1. Search for schematics that I can learn (i.e. match my crew skills, are within my crew skill "level", and are not already learned)

2. Find a crafting mission for the particular materials that I need (i.e. match the desired crew skill and are the correct tier)

3. Find an equippable item with particular stats on it. Example: my jedi guardian would like to have equipment with shield and defense-related stats, but there are several pages of each type of item that do not have those stats and just make it harder to find something I'd like to buy.

Special Bonus: Please Save My Zoom Level

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't use the default zoom level and have to re-zoom quite often. This is quite annoying for me and seems like it shouldn't be a difficult issue to address.

1. The ability to press a button and change from one gear set to another gear set;
2. More benefits to high level legacy;
3. Cross server PvP.

1) JTL style space game, no rails
2) RvR PVP
3) Customizable ships, maybe through new crew skill

1) Legacy shares
2) More meaningful story | Repeatability of previous Class Missions
3) Explorable worlds

#1: By "Legacy shares" I mean things like having Datacrons shared with every character of a Legacy, the same thing goes for the Codex (perhaps they could be made shared upon reaching level 50, so that one can still get experience points from getting datacrons/codex entries and it would prevent people from being overpowered due to the datacrons on new characters). A fix for the Codex is part of this suggestion (some entries cannot be obtained such as the title on Quesh, while others can only be obtained on other planets, e.g. there's a beast on the Tython's Codex whose entry can only be obtained on Balmorra).

#2: Less side quests, perhaps even less quests in general, but longer, more diverse (mechanics-wise) and focused missions. More interaction with companions. Story packs to be bought with Cartel Coins (nothing class-related, rather they should be like Mass Effect or Dragon Age DLCs. Intense story-focused chains of missions. To attract more people, they could reward tokens with which buy Legacy gear (such as the already existing sets) and/or exclusive Social gear).

#3: There is a gorgeous cave the Sith Warrior goes in on Tatooine during his class quest. It would be nice if good-looking places (e.g. caves, vistas, little lakes) were added and hidden somewhere on the planets (both the already existing ones and upcoming ones). Also, outposts and towns with NPCs (even though untouched by quests) would help the immersion, in my opinion.

1. Multi-spec. Once you hit Legacy 10, say, you can buy a second spec sheet for your characters (would act as character perks, purchased for each character individually). Legacy 20, maybe another spec sheet, and so on until once you hit Legacy 50, you can have 6 spec sheets for each character if you want to buy them all. Make it free to switch between spec sheets, but put a 1 hour cooldown on it. Just my suggestion there.

2. Fix the levels and appearance of orange craftable boots, gloves, belts, and bracers added in 1.3. Seriously guys, they don't match the helmet/chestguard/pants of the sets they go to. The implementation of those new schematics was badly done, but should be easy to fix.

3. Bind Tier 1 set bonuses (Tionese/Columi/Rakata and Battlemaster) to armorings, pretty please? Or make them otherwise transferrable?

I would really like to see:

1. Animal mounts! This would make me very happy. It's just wrong that you can't ride a Tauntaun.

2. More customization for my own character and companions. Especially the ability to hide head slot and unify colour to chestpiece for companions. A barber shop would also be really cool.

3. More character slots

1. Free Form Space! (And ship options, more along the lines of appearance but similar to the base character model), let me pvp in space in my own ship

2. Revise the LFG/LFO/PVP finder so I can have an idea how long I have to wait

3. More playable species

Good Thread

1- Repeatable Class Specific PvE Quests- Bounty Hunters get Bounty missions, Smugglers get Smuggling missions, ect. ect.. They dont even have to be Voiced. Maybe just some kind of mission terminal where you just click and go. Although VO'd would be ideal.

2- Barber Shop with more character customization options. Maybe even have more unlockable appearance options.

3- Mini Games- Pazzak, Swoop/Pod Racing, Dejarik (the chess game that Chewie and 3PO were playing in A New Hope). Anyting to break the monotony of just going out and killing stuff all of the time.

1) please work on the Quest markers! i need to know the difference between what is and is not repeatable, and what i have already done and what i've yet to do.
2) The ability to save and load keybinds! I hate having to redo keybinds every time I make a new character.
3) Datacron shared among Legacy.

Common requests:
1) Multiple Build Slots
2) More character slots (8 more should do so i can build each class twice)
3) More playable races (Voss, Togruta, Nautolan, etc.)

after that it's HUGE things, like a skill system that is more open like KotOR and less like WoW, and Lightsaber forms that actually look different.

Can someone please explain the sitting in chairs request? It comes up over and over again. Were people sitting in chairs all over the place in WoW? I can't think of a bigger waste of development resources.
