Dual Core CPU Not Enough?

I have a 2yr old laptop with a dual core p8700 processor (2.53 GHz) and a 1G nVidia 260M processor and 6G of RAM. I am trying to run the game now and regardless of the resolution I choose (even going down to 800X600) and with all the details turn down, I still have a pretty horrible framerate on open environments (15-20) with a better framerate on inside environments (30-45).

Based on some research and the fact that I can play other graphic intese games like GRID and Street Fighter 4 with really good frame rates, I think my issue is CPU related and not GPU related.

That said, I've read that some games allow some CPU functions to be routed to the GPU. Is this possible in this game? Anything else to try?

Are other folks with dual core processors having the same issue.

I cannot update my CPU based on my current motherboard so that is out of the question.

Success has a thousand parents, but poor failure is an orphan.

Start by turning shadows off. Your laptop should be able to run it.

As for me, I even cant change resolution in game - anyway, it restores to the highest for my notebook... Even in windowed mode!!!
Any idea, what should I do?
