I got the game because I'm a huge star wars fan, plus I like mmorpgs. For me personally, the game failed to make me feel immersed in a star wars universe. However, I can see some players staying due to it being a star wars game, not sure if it's the number that's keeping the game alive. Would be interested to gt the answer though.
PROPER SPACE COMBAT PLEASE

Not for me.

I could care less what the universe is.

It is cool that it is in the Star Wars Universe, the best part for me is the Story and How you can make choices that actually effect the outcome.

Hmmm...what different outcome are you referring to? For FPs maybe? Class story is the same no matter your choice as far as I know...
All warfare is based on deception If his forces are united, separate them If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near A leader leads by example not by force

Star Wars and Bioware ARE why the game sold 2.4 million copies its first week. That's all an IP can really do is bring people in.

The gameplay and stories are what is keeping the game alive. If people hated the gameplay they would just leave. Look at SWG. People left because the game sucked. Those that stayed didn't do it because it was Star Wars but because it was the only true Sandbox MMO out.

IP draws people in

Gameplay storys keep players.

Well, you must be living under a rock good sir, because people ARE in fact leaving. I personally love this game, but people are right when they say this game has an awful lack of end game content. I think if it weren't Star wars, it would be dead already. Sure, the IP brought people in, but the IP is also what is keeping some people.

It's strange that you deny that when most other posts here have flat out said yes, that is why.

I personally do.
If it were the 1980's I would agree but I think Star Wars fans grossly over estimate the current-day value of the Star Wars brand.

Name a good sci-fi MMO of quality caliber other then SWTOR (I am refering to the 1-49 content in this game)

Star Wars will always be good, regardless of the wierd changes in the latest releases

Partially, yes. I played SWG for 8 years. Right up until they closed the servers. While it was the best sandbox MMO of our times, I still think I mainly played it just because I am a huge Star Wars fan... as did a lot of the playerbase.

So glowsticks and wookiees and jawas makes that much of a difference? Star Wars is space fantasy, about as close to sci-fi as Warcraft is.
