Starwars keeing SWTOR alive?

It's not what is keeping the game alive at all that's just silly.

Star Wars and Bioware ARE why the game sold 2.4 million copies its first week. That's all an IP can really do is bring people in.

The gameplay and stories are what is keeping the game alive. If people hated the gameplay they would just leave. Look at SWG. People left because the game sucked. Those that stayed didn't do it because it was Star Wars but because it was the only true Sandbox MMO out.

IP draws people in

Gameplay storys keep players.

Speak for yourself. Personally, SW is what drew me in and the only reason Im still around though interest is fading for a while already.
I still cling a bit to the hope that one day they may actually make something cool out of this game...mostly because there neither is a different SW MMO (anymore) nor can I imagine a new one to come along the next 5-10 years.
The subscription fee doesnt hurt me so I can just ignore that Im wasting a bit of money while hardly logging in (after the other 6 of my buddies who joined up with me already quit) but without SW I dont think I would.

I personally do.
Without a doubt--if this weren't Star Wars I wouldn't have been here in the first place, and probably would have left already. It's just too derivative and no enough in-depth. On the other hand, I would have continued to play SWG pre-NGE, even if it weren't Star Wars. I play SWTOR for the lore.

I'm not sure it is even keeping it alive anymore.

I'd be shocked if they couldn't squeeze enough money from the loyal player left to stay afloat.

However, I thought it was ridiculous to suggest this game would be Free-to-play within a year.

Star Wars fans might just not like MMORPG's.

Yes, I think so too. I am around basicly only because of the star wars theme and the sci-fi environment.

I am so tired of fantasygames that I will not play another new one that gets released in the zillions for ages.

My reason for staying here is the hope that this game will get better and hopefully have some community friendly updates for PvP and another characterslot, I need to get a ninth character to 50

Yeah I do think theres more STARWARS fans than video game fans playing.

I think we were hoping for Empire Strikes Back...and got Phantom Menace...
