Light sticks so yah the SW universe is the only reason this game has any players left. Designers have clearly decided to completely ignore the player base in terms of priorities of things to fix/add.

Honestly the best thing they could do now is go back to before 1.2 in terms of class balance.

I would definitely not be here if it were not star wars. Hell the game itself does not even feel like KOTOR or SW despite the lightsabers, cameos and references.... such a waste of an IP
Kleck - Jugg Omisri - Maud Aeox - Assassin Meign - Sorc Idep - Stealthy Operative Jacke - Merc
SWTOR - No longer is it like the pain of a full bladder in your car on a long journey, relieved by a hidden service station. But the dissapointment you get when you find out you were not in a car - you were asleep, just wet yourself, and had to pay for new bedding.

That has some impact, but I think the fact that it's NOT swords and ogres and hairy footed midgets has as much to do with it as that does. The MMO genre lacks good sci-fi.

Yes...in the same way that STO would not have survived this long if it wasn't Star Trek, or World of Warcraft would not have gotten off the ground if it had not been for Warcraft and Diablo. Most games that come in without any built in fanbase pretty much die quickly. I've been playing MMO's for some time now, and I could tick off the number of games that have survived post-EQ that didn't have built in fanbases on the fingers of one foot.

Yes, it is the Star Wars draw that has kept them going this long. It's also the fact that they have the makings of a good game, but, just can't get their act together when it comes to balancing endgame PvP and providing immersive expansion content fast enough to keep the PvE/RP crowd content. The worst slap is that they are now going to give away the good part of the game for free (1-49 class story lines and PvP that doesn't completely suck the imbalance thumb like a brain dead monkey) then expect people to pay for the endgame aspects that they suck at. GW2 is going to crush their PvP base significantly in a week (I don't even care about GW2, just saying..). The few remaining hardcore PvPers and PvE crowd hoping for content expansive at that point will not be enough to sustain this game as anything significant. Although, I wouldn't be surprised to see it hang on as a dwithering community for ages. Once again, it is Star Wars, right?

Any MMO that forces their players to wait until the 2nd major patch just to have guild banks should be a pretty massive red flag that they are not attuned to what MMOers expect just in terms of basic options and functionality. I knew that then and tried to convince myself that I was overreacting. This game is dead to me, which sucks because I wanted it to succeed.

It is a reason I think. I really enjoy the game and feel the graphics, planets and storyline was well done. The gameplay for me works perfect and the flash points, operations and warzones I really love also. But a sci fi lore is a lot harder to sell if there was a no name IP compared to those of fantasy like WoW. Look at GW's, Rift and Tera. Not based after any movies or anything and granted Tera sucks and lost many subs, it still sold some games.

If someone came along and made a brand new IP to do with sci fi, I don't think it would sell well unless Blizzard made it or it was based of a huge game of theirs. For example like Mass Effect Online.

But yes since this is still Star Wars and to me has a good Star Wars feel to it, I keep playing. If it wasn't then I honestly don't know if I would stay. Like I said this isn't a horrible game and if they can keep pumping out good content and making operations maybe longer and a littler harder, I think they will gain a lot more subs beyond just the f2p people.
