I was a Star Wars fan before mmo's in fact before the personal computer was a common house hold item, then I became an mmo fan when they started, It is kinda like two great tastes that taste great together..
Do not dwell in the past, do not not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Expectations lead to suffering

zero interest that its starwars, i like MMOs that dont allow addons/hacks/macros and this game touted it didnt, and would never, support addons ... so thats why i joined.
addons killed wow for me, so i left and was looking for one without addons .. and here it is.

when pay-to-win comes, and it will, i will delete my account and look for another game that touts no addons/hacks/macros allowed and i will join that one.

Well I dont consider SWTOR to be anything more than an SPRPG with some co-op at endgame.. if it weren't for the Star Wars banner I would likely of just tried it and binned it cos tbh, there are many better MMO's out there, just not using lightsabres and blasters... but those little gems are loosing their sparkle rapidly now if I am honest.

I almost didn't play it because it was Star Wars. Over my 13+ years of MMO playing, I've found that games with a 3rd party IP tend to struggle more, have more drama (due to lore kiddies) and have more external issues (with the 3rd party IP holder).

To this date, my 2 favorite ever MMOs had an internal made IP (Those being Asheron's Call and Shadowbane) with their own created lore. Those felt more like RPGs and less like I was a character being written in a book by a third party...

edit:
And for the record, I play MMOs because they are MMOs, not the IP attached to them. I've played:
Asheron's call
Anarchy Online
Dark Age of Camelot
Star Wars Galaxies
Shadowbane
EverQuest
EverQuest II
Lineage II
Age of Conan
a Handful of F2P games (or rather P2W)
And Beta Tested others not on the list.

i Really wanto love this game... and i do. in heart, but... i played Swg from launch to when it shut down. loved that so much, very underated, huge cult following.... This game, i started in Beta. leveld 5 characters to 50. then once it was launched. i leveld like 4 50s. and i feel kinda burnt out. im wondering if its cause i played so much in beta. or is it just the game... cause i am a HUGE star wars fan and MMO fan. i play DCUO ATM as well. ive played everquest 2 for a long time. wow. , and more... i really hope this game gets better in game content. , and also i hope it heads towards thee sandbox style . cause they have the capability to do so. its all there. just the speeders are a start. , im just trying to figure out what happend. why i loved it so much in beta and at launch, and now im sorta losing interest but i dont wanto

The game wouldn't exist if it wasn't backed by Star Wars. No one would have invested the amount of money they did in a game without an established I.P.

You can't remove the SW from TOR. TOR exists because of SW. That would be the case whether TOR was super successful, a failure, or somewhere in between.

Isn't this thread very similar, if not the same, as the one in the following link:
