Do you guys think that the fact that this game is set in the SW universe is the only reason its keeping as many subs as it is?

Kinda. The huge IP and its fans are only keeping this game alive. I think also the Story players are the niche keeping it alive, cause the Unsubscriber's Thread has shown many of the PvP'ers, PvE'ers and RP'ers have disappointingly left.

This game is a huge flop.

Well, this is my first MMO so I think I'm easier to please, but even I'm running out things to do in this game, which is a shame.

If this game was not Starwars would not be here still. Probably wouldnt have even tried the game.

KOTOR, not Star Wars: A New Hope, was the hook for me. And it delivered from that perspective. As an MMO? Well, if this had a different theme, I don't know if I would be here. It depends... For example, if this was a Mass Effect MMO, I would be here. Dragon Age? Yup, I'd be here. Pokeman? Nope... lol!

My point is that the general mechanics are fine. Where this game has excelled, however, is in the story telling in an MMO universe. So... No. I don't think Star Wars specifically is keeping this game alive. The story telling mechanic is.

Do you mean, would this game be popular if it were the same system except "Generic Adventures in Space"? Probably not. Obviously the fact that it's set in the SW universe is a draw. But I mean, really, we're already well versed in the SW universe, for the most part, and the episodic class storyline works better in a SW setting than it would in a generic setting that nobody is familiar with.

If it wasnt Star Wars then I never would have left Rift to play it at all.
James Ohlen: " For 2012 we really want players to feel like they're getting their money's worth. You're going to see so many changes and additions to the Star Wars Universe. It's going to be impressive. We have our Update 1.2 coming in the next week and then after that it's going to continue to roll out month after month. It's exciting."

Honestly the fact that it's star wars is the only reason I bought it in the first place and it's the only thing that's kept me playing through all the bugs and dying community and other rough patches. You pretty much need to be a star wars fan to stick by this game after all it's gone through lol. I came from wow and if this was just any other generic mmo I would have left a long time ago, but it's star wars and I've always been a long time fan.
