Please Please PLEASE fix the loot system!

The loot system needs 3 options/categories

Need (should be grayed-out/unavailable to choose if it doesn't fit your current character) > Need for Alt/Companion (always available) > Greed.

Just to clarify, there are working solutions [i.e. game mechanics] to the problem [i.e. selfish players].

Priority 1: Player can only roll Need if their character can equip the item being rolled on.
Priority 2: Player can only roll 'Need for Companion' if they have a companion that can equip the item being rolled on.
Priority 3: Player can roll 'Greed' on anything.

I like this Idea, perhaps make the modifiable gear a little more frequent and drop with no mods in it. I would love to get some modifiable gear for my companion, or perhaps a new look. I have only seen one piece of modifiable gear drop so far, perhaps I have had bad luck.

sorry but every game these days has the need greed pass system.

and yes grouping with guild, friends, allies guilds only.. works just fine..

Basicly because at higher levels 5 companions it will basicly be that people just do Need companion button pressed instead of greed.

Basicly if people roll need for companion while people in the group needs it put them on ignore check the guild he is in contact theire GM and let him sort it out.

If he dont do that just tell youre guild friends to ignore that guild

No one is trying to fix broken people. Just trying to mitigate the effect they are permitted to have on the game experience.

In "other" games, I have alts that can use drops, but passing to mains first is common courtesy. Companions for loot sake should be treated just like that...Alts, who for the most part don't contribute much, especially in end game. They are not allowed in PvP and they are not allowed in Operations, the only time they matter is during soloing and easier flashpoints if your group isn't full with players. So taking gear from someones actual character for a companion character is extremely rude considering it is hardly needed and gets very minimal use. And this REALLY applies at level 50 end game and you aren't even questing anymore.

Oh my god, another thread about the Need/Greed system? I'm beginning to think people are lacking in the department upstairs. What is it you don't understand. You need an item only if you can USE it. You greed and item only if you WANT it. I'll agree that the system need to include a grey out need if it doesn't fit your class.

My first run through The Esseles a blaster gun dropped and I was the only smuggler in the group, but the trooper needed it as well and won. Why, he cannot use it? And you'll say something smart like: "This is my you don't pull pugs." or some such. Well I'm not in a guild and I don't know anyone that plays this beside my wife. And the only way to get friends to to meet them in-game while partying.

Also to those saying its the player that need fixing and not the game, I cannot wait until your gear gets stolen, or maybe you're in such denial about the situation you'll laugh it off and continue being the apathetic fool you are.

fwiw I only roll need on things I can actually use. Otherwise I just roll greed or don't bother rolling at all (afaict just closing the dialog passes - there should really be a button that says "Pass").

Yeah. And lets stop enforcing laws. Criminals are the problem. Laws don't fix criminals.
