How old are you? How many MMOs have you played? Um this is a easy one...I was born when Kennedy was in the White House...going on my 8th or 9th MMO

We don't simply for access to the servers, that's not what this is, that would just make this a regular online game like MW3 or BF or whatever, don't have to pay to access those servers, just play for free. Once again read the TOS.

We pay a monthly sub because MMOs are SUPPOSED to be living worlds that grow and change and our sub money goes to making them grow and change. See Above.

$15 a month is $180 per year which is the cost of THREE BRAND NEW GAMES. And so far the game has received TWO content updates.

If they aren't giving me 3 games worth of new content each year, well then I'm gone. Ta Ta and Fare thee well...you won't be missed.

I honestly don't think you understand anything about this genre. If they came out here today and their EP said "your sub only buys you access to our servers, you are not entitled to ANY new content." Read the TOS..it does.

1. Do you think he would EVER actually say that? Relevance?
2. Do you think there would be anyone left playing the game if he did? See Above.

You see us grown-ups, actually read things before we agree to a binding agreement...I suggest in the future you do the same.
So what you're saying is because they didn't LEGALLY promise us content updates then we aren't entitled to them. Well LEGALLY most people commit three felonies a day so why don't you get off the internet and go turn yourself in to the police you felon!

This isn't about carefully worded legalese, but I guess if you really are that old all of this makes sense, after all it was your generation that bent us to the banking and legal slavery that is destroying this country, so taking another butt reaming from this major corporation is just par for the course for you eh.

What this IS about is industry standards and consumer expectations. It's about marketing terminology and how that is being used to mislead consumers.

If you've really played games as long as you claim then you should understand the difference between b2p, f2p, and p2p.

Buy to play means buying the game gives you access to the servers but when new content comes out, you pay for it.
Free to pay means you don't have to pay for access to the servers but you may have to pay for certain aspects of the game as content comes out.
Pay to play means your sub purchases you access to the servers AND new content.

SWTOR is trying to merge this three different industry standard payment models into a new hybrid model by charging subbed players as though this was a f2p game.

Now if you want to say "well their TOS and EULA means we're not LEGALLY entitled to new content herrrrr derrrrrr."
Then what I'll tell you is that misleading your client base under faulty assumptions while technically legal in America with it's loose consumer protection standards is NEVER a good idea when your good or service requires a RECURRING payment model... because people will just stop paying...

I'm beginning to think that you're a troll, as only a troll would honestly go back to the TOS and say "see you're not entitled to new content the TOS says so!"

If any of this is true... its just sad... they create a game only good for its One-Time Leveling content, and then they keep it the same & try to milk the subscribers for more money when very few of us are already displeased and downright angry.

If its true I WANT them to fail, if its not I would still like to see the game improve and leave its place as WoW's yonger, dumber brother who spent his life trying to be just like big brother.

I grew up with mmos, they are in my blood, I have probably spent a year of combined time playing them.
there fixed it for you.

This really sums it up for me. So although it makes me very nervous about the direction things may go I'm not going to pass judgement before there is something to actually pass judgement on. I don't blame people for being apprehensive though.
Asani - Sorcerer / Kishira - Mercenary / Liexa - Sniper
Dead Server Refugee - Empire - Jedi Covenant (EST/PVE)

Love, like or hate the game try to remember that Opinion != Fact.

We of course will pay for ANY expansion. Anything that add's more to the game. An entire planet and five levels? to a ton of us who have alt's that is alot. I would also like to see my companion side mission expanded just a bit more as well as my own.

It's not milking. Milking is what Blizzard does when they charge you 30 dollars faction transfer. 30 dollars.

Because free to play means paying for content as it comes out.

2. Why don't you have to pay for content in a sub based game like WoW?

Because your sub as already paid for the new content being made.

1. It will be true if it would be ONLY Free to Play. This game has announced TWO payment plans : Sub and free. Free will have some limitations, or so they said. Now... there would be really no point in paying a sub if any patch costs money for the subbed players.

2. Look at 1. Because they are still keeping the sub model, so it is fully expected to have access to everything except the Cash Shop with a sub.

What you need to understand is this: they will add F2P, while keeping the subs. So, from a sub player`s perspective.. it makes very little sense to pay for new content.

But if you are using 'free' currency provided by your subscription to buy that content what is the problem?

The problem is that as a sub paying player, I should get those for FREE. Period. And that "free" is actually 15$ per month.

[EDIT]And I can almost bet that 15$ worth of Cartel Coins is more than the "free stipend", meaning I even get shafted vs freemiums, by getting less for the buck, but required to spend equal.

Understand where your coming from but every MMO is doing it. WoW for example is the hugest glutton for paying for nothing and then paying for expansions. The discussion at the moment is will it be beneficial for the company for subs to pay extra for expansions or let them have it for free.

IMO I think if they give it to subs they are literally going to rip their competition apart.

So what do you use your cartel coins for. Do you expect free pets etc?

Are you expecting to be given free fluff, because that is what you should be paying for, in my opinion?
