If that was the case then the interviewee would of stated that it would be free for subscribers.

Except for MoatCarp the biodrone, with a malfunctioning subtlety core (I lol'd ), I think everyone pretty much agrees this better be an expansion half the size of the game to justify charging subscribers, or people will leave in droves more than they already have, all within a day of the announcement. If it is just a content update, the size that even in a F2P/B2P game it would be free, people will just unsub leaving this game to further decline. Again, all within a day of the announcement, to the point where freemium just ends, and it goes full on F2P.

They wouldnt be shooting themselves in the foot, they would be shooting themselves in both feet pulling that stunt.

Does make me wonder if that was the point of the interview though. "If we let people speculate over this bit of information, lets see what they say over the weekend and we will decide from there." Hey, that's something I would do if I was EA.

You might be right on the information gathering but again ill point to not understanding MMORPG players.

Cause you just know for every person who reads it and sees "were discussing this", 10 others have already spazzed out about how EA is going to charge them a sub and charge them for content!

So just putting it out there would be a huge mistep, if your theory correct.
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

The official stance has gone from 'Subscribers will receive content for free' to 'certain content may need paying for. It's in discussion still'.

It's a very worrying stance imo. I can afford whatever they charge. The point is I don't like being misled.

Same here, except I cannot always afford the extra money. Being misled is testimount to being lied to. (sorry about spelling)

It's almost like the people saying back during the days of the F2P announcement that everything was too vague to take as guaranteed, that EA was a company known for screwing its customers, that you would in fact end up paying for non-expansion content as a subscriber, etc. had a point.

Now we just need Andryah or one of the others to show up and do their Baghdad Bob impression.

I think the bigger point is that they are just trying to see what they can milk us for and get away with. Charging for expansions is fine but for normal content update size it is not. For instance, rift is comming out with a paid for expansion. That expansion will triple the size of the game. It will come with housing, guild areas, higher level cap, more talent points, more raids, dungeons, world events, dynamic content, more souls (classes) and more. Thats an expansion.

Makeb will come with a small level increase and world arc stories. Not class stories... world arc stories. Im sure they will pack in every single tiny thing they can to try and claim its expansion size but it wont be. The planet will last mere couple days. Probably 1 day to alot of people. The level cap increase is just to look like it has something. They will probably try to put HK51 in there to make it look like its an expansion. They will probably hold off on the upcomming raid and warzone and space missions....all to make it look expansion worthy and try to justify the charge.

There will still be people fooled by it and pay for it. I hope most dont fall for that crap. But there will always be some.

Anyways... the fact that they are even thinking about it shows what kind of people they are. They gave us crap for updates while we were paying. They are using some of that money on the F2P model and cash shop so that they can charge us even more. Im sorry but this crap is unnaceptable to me.
James Ohlen: " For 2012 we really want players to feel like they're getting their money's worth. You're going to see so many changes and additions to the Star Wars Universe. It's going to be impressive. We have our Update 1.2 coming in the next week and then after that it's going to continue to roll out month after month. It's exciting."

What level cap increase?

They backed off of that in today's interview. As in, we now have no idea if there will be one.

They "weren't ready to discuss it" yet.

I agree. thats still not content.

if they expect me after im paying a sub, to pay extra for additional content, and pay for cartel coins cause we know they wont give that much for all the things playesr will want, then that will be the end of my time in this game, i wouldnt even play it for free at that point.
