I am VERY unhappy about today's patch and the pandering to the "non social", "non guilded", "inexperienced" MMO minority that this game has been catering to. I am here to voice my opinion on a game which has the exact theme that I wanted in an MMO, Star Wars.

Your post is pointless and damaging to the game. There will always be those that cannot achieve something and be assured, they WILL post and complain. Today's patch fixing whatever was "perceived to be broken" is a case in point. The developers are listening to someone, and it sure wasn't me. I am here now to complain about it, because without Denova or HM GF FPs, I have nothing to do in game at the moment.

So, maybe your post should be something like this:

"If you find that you cannot complete something that others are completing, disband the guild you created for the extra storage space and join a real guild that can help you learn to play. DO NOT go to the forums and complain that the game is too hard and they need to fix things that are not broken"

You see, complaints are fine, as long as they are not complaints for the wrong reasons. Like "I can't find groups in an MMO, but refuse to join a guild because I have no social skills and want my own guild"
If you think my Thread is damaging to the game you missed its point ENTIRELY. Im not Pinpointing swtor saying OMG THIS GAME SUCKS WTH is it even doing still running? Cancel its services NOW!!!

That^ Is Damaging....I said man, no matter where you go there will be people who are complaining about a MMO, in all angles and points of it. Im so lost on how you somehow took this thread as me bashing swtor lol. Once again im saying that for those thinking there is some game that's a MMO HAVEN where all is right, there ISNT. Do you get that??? That is THE reason for this thread. Understand???

I am happy playing a single player game to be honest. I wanted a Star Wars MMO, and I thought I would get one when I pre-ordered way back when.

I am sure there are many out there like me who are still playing, and at the moment I am complaining.

Why am I complaining? Because today's patch, which "fixed" two things I have never had a problem with, broke my entire content. I am unable to play with my guild, or do ANY of the things I find enjoyable in the game.

So, in absence of the game I wish to play actually being playable, I have taken the same time devoted to playing the game to come to the forums and express my displeasure.

You made a post complaining that i should be looking for a new MMO, which is perhaps what I may end up doing, but I doubt it. Understand?????

Honestly WoW's forum is pretty decent between times of the odd silly Blizzard mis-step. They are hard on the devs there for a quality product and often times their criticisms are addressed in the those same threads by the devs in a collaborative and constructive fashion, which generally halts the perpetrations of the types of rumours that this forum has.

No where in my post did I say you should go play another game lol. I give up. You're off the map somewheres. I said for people planning to leave thinking they will get a flawless product elsewhere that they should forget about it.

Nope, mmo gamers complain more than any other group I've seen. This is basically universal for any mmo title, not just swtor.
Belgoth's Beacon ----> The Fatman ----> Prophecy of the Five ----> The Ebon Hawk

the happy players arent posting anything if anything at all because they dont need to.
the Vocal group of hate you see is extreme small. this is the case with any game currently. Battlefield Heroes pay to win switch caused a uproar but most of the player base stayed

FULL of people complaining to no end, full of people upset and wanting a refund for this or that being fixed, or a broken development promise, etc. My question to the Swtor forums is simply this,

Is there such thing as an MMO Fanbase that is overall satisfied in GENERAL??? It seems like there is no possible way to make EVERYONE happy.

Diablo 3 Fans hate that they're dungeons are narrow, small, and short in exploration

Warcraft players are upset they will soon have Panda's running around the world and that the game hasn't sought to innovate itself since it's 3rd expansion.

Rift Players are complaining the game grows dull after a few months if you aren't into raiding

Guild Wars 2 players....havent even had a release on the game yet and are ALREADY complaining lol.

So just know as you log on to these forums and see tons of people complaining about going elsewhere to play...wherever they are goin, the grass aint much greener on that side. There are flaws in ALL MMO's. Find one with the subject/theme you dig and stick with it.

The accepted truth is that happy players spend their time playing the game and will always be the vast majority.
MMO's are built to court the love and affection of millions of people.
Think about how difficult it is to court the affection of just one person and all the 'he said' 'she said' that goes on in the most common social scenes - MMO's tackle that on a massive scale, it's literally impossible to make everybody happy.

I remember several huge risings of discontent in WoW over the years, particularly in their first couple of years. It's a matter of history now that Warlocks were a bit of a disaster at the start and for a very long time were one of the least popular classes by a huge margin... I think they may still be the least represented. Rogues' stun-lock gameplay was the cause of another great wave of discontent, Warriors were Fury-ious at one point... I don't even remember what their issue was but the forums filled with incredible bile and hateful debate for months.. there was a poem one of them came up with 'remember, remember the 5th of December...'

Kalgan - the lead systems designer for WoW came to fame (and his massively over-paid jobs) by staging a huge revolt in .. I think it was EQ, over changes to warriors.

The real challenge is distilling actual wisdom from the masses, particularly when you consider that every individual has their own idea of what they'd like and opinions about just how achievable or realistic their wishes are.

People often have valid criticisms but their attempts to convey them are warped by emotion.
People build their lives around 'the' game and focus their emotional energy on it - which is partly the design of the game makers and reward systems frequently on giving players a quick-fix of positive stimulus.

This methodology however supports and encourages addictive or obsessive behaviour which in turn fuels people's desire for more quick 'highs' at the cost of what are effectively withdrawal symptoms, which really only become noticeable through persistent interaction (i.e. playing the same game for the same reward structure many hours each week).

Ultimately because these games become a part of our lives, often-times nearly as important and arguably more rewarding than our jobs are (obviously excluding the financial part) - you end up with a significant percentage of customers who are very heavily invested, far more than they would be in just about any other product or endeavour.

In turn then, whenever things don't go well in-game, they might feel the weight of it as much as they'd feel the weight of a problem in a relationship or an issue at work.

You might also delve into 'mob mentality' and negative / positive feedback in societies. Game designers of all kinds consistently ignore the psychological aspects of their creations.
Until companies start taking it seriously, we'll continue to see grumpy player-bases and a progression of great games that boom & bust.
Grumpy players are that much more difficult to appease and once they feel they've lost their special connection to the game they're next to impossible to lure back for more than a cursory look.

Hate is just the same as love. People will hate things that they seem not to fit a game they love and they want to see something they love become great.

True hate is something you don't see because they want nothing to do with whatever they hate.

Hate =/= Love

If love and hate was that simple than there is no point in even trying to hate or love something.

Yes, yes, yes, I agree with you now.

Just unsubbed before my 6 month subscription renews. Which MMO will be my next? Who knows? Probably none of them. Just so you know why people post "Fix this or I am out of here"...hey, it means exactly that. They made my fun into a chore to enjoy. Say goodbye to my dollars. I posted, complained, you didn't listen. Goodbye.

Perhaps you understand now why people post their "Hey I'm giving you one last shot" posts. I have never been a dirtbag that had a girlfriend in pocket before I left the current one, why should I need a replacement MMO to realize that I am wasting my time and money?

Answer: I do not. Enjoy all

Yes, there is. Except neither Diablo 3, nor Guild Wars 1 are MMOs.
