I think this new free to play option will open the game up to millions of Star Wars fans around the world. I really do. There are sooo many people that probably wanted to play this game just for the story and to run around in anything to do with Star Wars but didn't want to pay a sub fee. But now they don't have to. Thinking about it all. I think it's actually one of the few games that's going to take off like crazy after the f2p option comes in. I'm SO glad it's not fully f2p though

I am also very confident that they will now give us more content more frequent because they were probably working on the free to play conversion that whole time we had nothing. I must keep up hope and optimism instead of being negative all the time! I honestly think it should have been hybrid model from the start. That way there would have been a HUUUGGE amount of people on this game I think. But at least they are doing it now. Thanks for listening.

Anyway, that's what I think!

There was so much hype around TOR before release. The hype was actually about it being a Star Wars MMO, not about the game as it is (I mean game mechanics and systems and that sort of things). Star Wars is probably one of the most well-known and popular franchises existing nowadays, and the fact that it has 35 years of people's love says a lot.

When TOR goes F2P, we can expect a lot of new people coming to see a Star Wars MMO. Some of those people will be disappointed, while some will definitely love the game. And a lesser number of people will decide to subscribe and use the game's full potential. That's how EA is going to use the Star Wars brand to make money.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. It's a good thing for both us, the players, and the developers. If F2P may bring a chance to change EA's opinion about the game's capabilities of making money for them, thus prolonging the game's life so I can play it and have fun (because I'm really enjoying the game even though I'm playing since December), I'll support it.

I doubt it will be "millions"... a net gain of a few hundred thousand maybe, once the initial rush has settled down.

to be honest, i have over ten friends that want to play swtor. but many of them don't because they didnt actually feel like buying it and their computers cant handle it. they all have old macs or have pretty crappy pc's. i also have a bunch of friends that quit after playing for a month after launch bc they are only in to end game content. the games changed so much that if people come back i think they will stay, and i think that people play for free will wanna do some end game. i have a couple friends already telling me now that theyll try it out when it comes out for free. so guys, recruit your friends. nothing is better at recruiting than free things.

Problem isnt whether or not it will open the game up to more players. That is obviously true, the problem is it doesn't make the game better. A bad game with 1 million people or 2 million people is still a bad game

There is a free trial now, how many people are using that?

Wont make that great a difference and it will probally push some of players that have been nothing but loyal to this game to unsub when more and more things are added to the store for purchase.

EA has shifted to tactics for max financial gain over game play or player loyalty.

Dont believe me? We have heard nothing in months about paid transfers, meanwhile we have toon stuck all over the place.

Take a flight out to ilium and find the open world pvp.

Watch this video about pvp and then ask yourself why this has not been addressed, This game has been out almost a year now.

This game isn't a bad game. Have you played any other MMO's? Tabula Rasa, Vanguard, WAR, AoC etc? There are and have been many MMO's launched that were / are today in worse shape than SWTOR is.
