Not a forced march to the nearest concentration camp server for everyone. No choice of server. Not even able to take all your toons (can't have more than 8) or even keep your name if someone on the destination server already has it logged.
You say Bioware can't win? Well I kinda think we (the players) can't win in this case - We take the 'hosing' and 'suck it up' or we unsubscribe! I don't wish to do either...So am I or players with my same viewpoint the bad guys here?
I don't think so...
Maybe not everyone asked for transfers in the first place. I know I didn't. I have transferred some toons and yes finding a group is easier, but still doesn't change the fact I lost my Legacy name and had to change my first toons name. I have read they are keeping the dead servers. if so I think they should make them story servers. where you just play the class and planet quests, allow you to team with others on those quest.

Again, they did not state there would never be forced transfers, they said that the initial phase would not be forced. They also did not say that they origin servers would remain open for ever.

Nothing they have said implies that the destination server combinations for the merges will definitely be the same as the current ones. They have stated that no characters will be deleted which implies that you could have characters ending up on another destination server than the one currently listed for each origin server.
What are you? Bioware's lawyer? While they might not have explicitly said some things, or implicitly meant somethings. Wouldn't it had been a lot easier, and better, if they explained everything from the very start? Both the good and bad so that all the community knew exactly what was going on. So that every person could make their own choice on whether they wanted to stay or go. Though I imagine, if that were the case, they would not have been able to get those few extra bucks from people that lingered hoping that things would change or their situation would improve. So is tonight the big move? All the stragglers should log on to your old dead servers on last time and say hi and bye to your fellow holdouts.

“We understand that some of you may be looking to consolidate characters from a variety of origin servers onto one server, and others may be anxious to move to a specific server to be with friends. With the restrictions of this initial service, that may not be possible. We still believe that you will enjoy playing on a higher population server and hope you’ll take advantage of the service, but you won’t be forced to transfer. Future versions of the Character Transfer Service may allow more options in your choice of destination servers and may require a transfer fee.”

But you won't be forced to transfer - lovely

I'll see you there then. I prepurchased the day I cancelled my recuring sub here. I won't be resubing here until they sort out this server issue and a few other nuisance issues for me. If GW2 holds my attention like GW1 does I may never return.

I hope we soon get the option to move our characters to a server of our choice (pvp to pve for example) before free to play hits....

So, if the Destination Servers now have queues, what's it going to be like with Free-to-Play? Hour long queues?

At least now it becomes clear why they really don't care how many customers they p*ss off, they'll replace us all with Free-to-Play players.

So, why not KEEP the Origin servers running? If they are going to get an influx of new, FREE players, they'll need more servers.
