This is not SWG, go play a shooter if you want arena. world pvp will never happen until the developers start handing gear out like candy, not exactly sure what you mean by cross story.
ya, that's true, most of today's players have their real life, not like wxxxxx,
so a mmo must focus on players' skills not grinding,
for example, pre50 WZ is fine, but after 50, it is so boring, all about the grind.
pve class story lines are fine, but re-leveling is still too slow, all side quest is almost the same,
so boring, but endgame gear is not that grind, which is better, but still has something to improve,
EX: dont need tank dps healz to do fp/op, why u always design a game like triangle classes,
u should design when enough ppl join a group, then they always has someway to clear that fp,
why bw design fps need tank dps healz roles, it is old-fashioned science EQ.
English is not my first language, still working on it.

Yeah they should add something really big and very hard to get, like Titans in Eve, does not have to be gear, just something that we would want to get and that it would require a medium sized guild alot of effort to get it. And ofc a real use for the big thing we have worked hard for.

This drove most of them away until they add more character slots.

I went ahead and leveled a guy to 50 on a new server. Doing pvp now and I gotta say it feels like a ridiculous grind for war hero gear. I'm completely worthless in recruit armor as a juggeranut and am not having any fun griding it out for battlemaster.

Yeah I can't believe they didn't see that one coming. 16 slots per server was needed with 1.2 and legacy anyway, but with the server mergers it became utterly required.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

Looking at the data from TORstatus we can see in the US:

Server name Population (07/15-07/29) Change

The Harbinger » ø 2.34 -0.11
Begeren Colony » ø 2.30 +0.15
The Bastion » ø 2.28 -0.15
Drooga's Pleasure Barge » ø 2.27 -0.08
The Ebon Hawk » ø 2.18 +0.06
Corellian Run » ø 2.11 +0.03
Jedi Covenant » ø 2.10 -0.02
The Shadowlands » ø 2.04 -0.09
Canderous Ordo » ø 2.03 -0.06
Prophecy of the Five » ø 1.97 -0.28
The Fatman » ø 1.86 -0.08
Jung Ma » ø 1.85 -0.01

Where the ø values are explained on their site (www.torstatus.com)

But basically the destination servers have seen a decline of -0.64 over the last 2 weeks... which is pretty drastic

EU servers are similar.

I guess Bioware secretly raised the population caps for the 3rd or 4th time? or the game is still declining?
Yes, they raised the population cap over time for this. And, a change is expected over time from when transfers started. People transferred, played a bit on their new server because it was exciting, then went back to not playing as much. It's not a big deal. It's like how people play a lot when expansions come out in MMOs or a new patch comes out...Then it declines a bit.

So... no, I don't think that means the servers are declining at all.
The number you're referencing includes the "dead" origin servers, which are wildly inaccurate because of the extreme low populations. If you take the numbers for only the destination servers, you'll see that the net is a negative number. In fact, as of today only one of the destination servers shows a gain over the last 2 weeks.

Edit: For the US servers it's a loss of -1.08 or about half a server.

Yeah, I can't argue the numbers but my own anecdotal experiences seems to show a pronounced decline. I am on for extended periods of time in the late afternoon and evening hours and throughout the weekend. Queue times for my character(except for the tank) have double or tripled on average and instance populations have gone down by a 1/3. It seems the changes were most pronounced this last week.

I am not surprised as many of my guildies are preparing to take a break at the end of this month too. Don't forget there has been no new content since version 1.2 (April 12).

3.5 Months of no new content == lots of unsubs

Yup, 1.3 was quality of life, it will strengthen the glue that holds down subscriptions, but with no new content, swtor will run out of gas and people will ditch it.

And soon a lambo(Gw2) will drive up next to swtor and offer them a ride, not many people will stay, and shortly after that, the City bus will also stop(WoW:MoP), srsly dont see many people staying.

New MMOs come along and those easily bored will jump to them, doesn't mean anything. People cry doom and gloom and predict the "death" of a MMO, and yet those who like it, and aren't "yelling" about it, just continue to enjoy it. Watched "doom and gloom" predict the end of City of Heroes, Champions, DDO, LoTR....they all continue on and are still enjoyed by those that love them, years later.

I dont know if I would point to those games. Combined they dont even have 1 mil subs. The only reason DDO is still around was going f2p. So basically it was close or go f2p and start gouging people for the monthly fee plus. I dont want another cash shop game I already play two of those (ddo and lotro). I bought swtor because it is not f2p.

They'll initiate the new event pretty soon and all those hiatus players will be back. Then 1.4 will come around and they'll probably have to (re)open a server or two.
