Well...wasnt it Two huge turbo laser towers, some mobs, and THEN a huge droid? Seems like the prison atleast threw a bunch of other **** at you first.
There are no Heroes or Villains. Only Winners and Losers.

it's both. if you go back and look at the video's during development there are A LOT of broken promises...even recently...they said we'd be getting updates frequently...a bit back they SAID monthly..at least.

but people also had way to high of expectations for this game...for example some expected it to be innovative and break the mold even though they said from the get-go that it was going to be like WoW.

in the end which is more to blame? broken promises and crappy design decisions...too many shortcuts taken and too many downright embarrassing bugs...too linear...half-arsed implimentations..etc.

Variety? Sweet!
Can we please just have our pre-KotFE SWTOR MMORPG back?

That's why I included the last link in the original OP. I really do cut Bioware some slack, especially Mr. Ohlen. For all intents and purposes I really do believe that they meant to give us this "epic" innovative experience. He really did believe EA was going to keep the team together and pump out this monthly, voiced, high-quality content that now appears to be, an ... unrealistic expectation.

Now I digress. At this point given layoffs etc, if Bioware actually came out and made further grandiose claims knowing what they know do, I would tend to fall in the broken promise camp.. i.e- bleed em while we can. But what is ticking so many people off right now is that they're not saying anything!

Yes it does indeed. The issue might be because of the players, and the fact companies want a large user base. Games like EQ won't make it anymore, because they will be a niche market for only the hardcore.

Players want to race to the end game, and never sit back and enjoy the ride to get there. I still think there can be a balanced game that can have everything, but I'm not sure if I'll ever see it tho. One mistake BioWare did with this game was making leveling up way too easy. Also, they don't have enough "fluff" or filler content in place to keep people busy.

I think space missions can be a very nice time sink...if they had more to it. Like open space where you can find things, like space ship/ports and board them to steal resources, or side missions to save a crew from death (it can even promote pvp where anyone can attack, and take your finds over). Have a huge universe, and tons of places for people to find, defend or attack. Make it feel more like a living universe, outside of the planets themselves.

Stuff like that, where it gives tons of cool stuff to do outside of the normal raiding content. Mini games like Pazaak and Swoop Racing to name a few more. SW:TOR needs more "fluff content, and I think it might be a lot of fun. Make space more than just a mini game on rails. Man this game could be a lot more if EA allowed it, and if BioWare asked gamers for their ideas to improve the game.

As I said, that encounter is 1% of what this game has to offer and as for James Olhen, that quote was from like 2009 I bet the game was not even on alpha at that stage, I said it several times, a mature player knows that what you see and hear during devoplment is always subject to change (SPECIALLY 3 YEARS BEFORE RELEASE)

Now, maybe they decided it would be a good idea to actually have raids because players liked to raid on WoW, so whats the big freaking deal?

"But James Olhen! he said there wont be raids in the game and now there are raids in the game, he lied to us!"

Grow up people, if anything you should be happy they decided to add stuff to the endgame, otherwise there would be only Flashpoints at lvl 50.

They do ask for ideas. The problem is it appears that they always seem to take the easy way out. For example, character race options. Reskinned humans.

Polls were created. What races would you like to see?

According to Daniel E, their "Metrics" showed Cathar. Really? Who believes that tripe. I'm sure their metrics also show people love space combat too.

To answer your question honestly ... does the launcher crash? For some I'm sure it does. Is it a dealbreaker? For some I'm sure it is. But since there are also people in these forums who rant that voice-acted questgiver dialogue is a dealbreaker. They really lied about that one too I'd imagine. Regardless, if imperfection in a video game is a dealbreaker for some, then I honestly feel sorry for them.
god that client was unstable. I remember trying to gear up in PVP and waiting for HOURS for a AV match to start (which lasted at least 3-4 hours this was after they changed it back when it would last days) only to get in and have my client crash so i didn't recieve any honor and then of course it was impossible to get into another match because there would only be 1 AV match a night.

I agree with everything you have said here. I will say, though, that not all players race to the end to be at the end. I got there quick, yes, but it wasnt because I raced. Its because I couldnt put the game down. However, the second time through is not nearly engaging because I have done it all. That being said, I view that as the other overlooked issue.....

I think bioware missed a huge opportunity. They banked on players wanting to reroll for endgame... so why couldnt they spend more work there? I mean, I would much more love to make alts if they had more planets to chose from. Instead of going to x planet for level 10 to 20, I could goto y or z. That would not only create a varied leveling path, that makes leveling new for atleast a couple alts, but they could have made your story branch depending on which planets you choose. This creates a more varied story that actually does feel like you created it.
