people wanted a new mmo not a 1 play see u later game i love the story but there is no point to gilding here
pvp sucks cos of the style of game play for many
pvp world is non existent
no sandboxing in the game at all
no choice in story line
its great to play but lacks anthying u can say hey remember that in starwars i loved doing that
starwars even for a massive starwars fan is boring
they could have made the biggest game of the decade what they gave us was a joke and a buggy one at that

There is not one person, that is not a fan of something in these forums, be it, pizza, beer, nascar, football, games, etc, etc.

Fans are what drives the market for any product.

I am fan of this game, I am fan of Star Wars, Bioware I am fan of gaming, I have followed Tor since 2006, signed up on the forums on day one Oct 2008, but I am not a rabid or blind fan, I understand there are issues with the game, but as a fan, I still hold out some hope things might get turned around ( like people supporting a losing sports team year in and out).. I have concern about the lack of communication from Bioware, I have seen thier operation change almost over night as far as how they moderate the forums, I can not ignore the facts, lay offs, changes in moderation of the forums, silence from the company, even as a huge fan these things are sticking out like a sore thumb, you can ignore them or deny them all you want, but that is hard facts.

Everyone has an opionion, I agree with some, I don't agree with all, I see some posts that makes me wonder what the heck are they smoking, and I repsect those opinions and views even if they difffer from mine. It's what makes the world go round
Do not dwell in the past, do not not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Expectations lead to suffering

Valk, as much negativity as you post about this game I would think there would be a seat in there with your name on it. LOL

C'mon guy, are you kidding me with that post? LOL

3 years of anticipation...those 3 trailers that rocked your world..all the stress and impatience during EGA...6 months later, F2P talks. Mind boggling isn't it?
....and this is typical of the conjecture, the rumor build upon rumor by these types that speak before they think. There is absolutely zero talk about F2P from either the parent company, or the developers, yet this poster has it in his signature as a reason to be angry. LOL

One article, one time, by a second rate outlet, and the rumor mill and drama queens ran wild with it, extrapolated it out and promulgated it into law.

This is not a community. It was during pre-launch, but now it is something more akin to a 7th grade school yard during recess.

You sound more angry than most posts criticizing the game.

And frankly, people who tell others not to criticize the game or BioWare are really the worst type of fans for the company. Criticism is absolutely necessary for the game to improve and to uphold the rights of consumers.

It's amusing you claim BW "kill" problems quickly when there are so many problems with this game since release.

let's take a direct quote...

“We are looking at free-to-play, but I can’t tell you in much detail. We have to be flexible and adapt to what is going on,” BioWare Lead Designer Emmanuel Lusinchi said recently.
and before you go off about it being a forbes link.. this exact quote was in several online articles from any number of reputable gaming-oriented sites.. I've won this argument before, I'll win it this time should you choose to contest me on this point.

On Veritas calling him a fanboi, it's because we just have those criticizing the game for BioWare to make quick and major improvements and we have a small part of the community posting the great things about this game. If we have a small part of the community praising this game, well, I just don't see SWTOR improving too soon.

I think Veritas is one of the smartest members of this forum. He was right about those three trailers and about F2P talks. I'm gonna assume your new only because you haven't seen any of the F2P threads popping up since early June, and that we've had articles online that have employees looking at F2P as an option for the future.

Look it up and you'll see.

Again, how rumors are extapolated and promulgated into law.

You read the bi-line. You read the interpretation by Forbes (periodicals are very sneaky in how they interweave thier interpretation of a quote into the quote.), but you did not go deeper to read the actual quote from Lusinchi in the proper context.

Here is the actual quote, in context, not pasted up to appear differently.

Quote:
"We're going to be in the business from a long-term standpoint so absolutely we're going to embrace free access, free trial, ultimately some day we can move in and embrace that model," he tells the website. [/B]Gibeau also stresses that EA is "really proud of Star Wars" and "really excited about the launch."

"I don't think subscriptions ever go away, but when you have an IP as broad as Star Wars, we're definitely going to look at opportunities to grow that business and look at different ways of bringing customers in and serving them," he says.
Not only was there no talk about F2P, but he stated concisely that he did not see subscriptions ever going away. The only mention that could remotely associated with a F2P model was his leaving the conversation open ended by stating that they, as any business would, will continue to look at opportunities to grow the business. In short, the possibility, like any possibility exists, nothing more.

They are simply exploring the successful model put forth by wow with free trials. They are called "loss leaders", or more randomly "bait and hook", utilized as a standard marketing strategy to get customers in the door. Nothing, once again, has ever been stated by either the parent company or the developers about this game going free to play the way it has been bloviated all over this board.
May the Schwartz be with you....
