Your servers are lagging...

If you're trying to find a break in a cable, it makes sense to start from both ends and work towards the middle. You will find and diagnose the break more quickly.

The Tracerts and the Pingpaths gives information about the connection between your machine and their servers, which helps them track down the problem. The path you are tracing is the path to their machines, after all.

I don't experience lag anywhere except this game

To start with, the problem everyone is experiencing has been mis-identified. It is not lag, it is not server pause. Those are symptoms of the actual problem. The actual problem is the servers ability to resolve all the packets of data it is receiving and return feedback to everyone's computers so the client knows what to show you next. Basically, when (for example) 500 players all use a skill at the same time cause the server's processor to max out, some of those skills are put in a queue. After the server has resolved the first set of skills, it will resolve the next set waiting in the queue. (Yes, this did cause the symptoms everyone is experiencing today to occur prior to server transfers. Only it was less noticeable because the issue was not as large of a scale.) The symptom everyone is experiencing as a result of this appears to be lag or a server pause because during the time the server queue is full, the server stops responding to constant update requests from the client. For those that are disconnected from the server, it is likely a built in timeout in the client that disconnects you if it does not receive a response from the server for a curtain number of seconds.

Having said that, the reason, IMO, CS is making the above request is because each server is likely (drawing conclusions here) a grouping of several servers deep within BWs network structure and BW is attempting to trace down which of these servers is bottle-necking the entire server network. While BW can and likely are monitoring server loads, it is likely somewhat difficult to easily narrow their search to an individual computer/server unless they have the data they are requesting from us.

Note to BW: It appears that most of the posts about this issue are that most are experiencing the symptoms of this problem when playing within EC, EC HM, WZs, and on the Fleet. You should begin your search on the servers that host those instances first. Keep in mind however, these issues are also noticeable in other areas as well and because of this will likely require a much larger scale restructuring of the server network than what it appears up front.

Note to Players: BWs internal server networks are likely very expensive and with this game losing so many subs since launch, expansion of these servers will likely not occur until after the forced transfer on 30 July. After the forced transfer, BW will be able to move those systems into each of the remaining servers thereby increasing the server network's ability to handle current and future player loads.

that told me, i always thought lag was an interuption of a constant service, i also now know that 'dailies' do not fall into this special catagory of complete twaddle.

You talk s good game sir, pity you cant walk the walk,,, Any half decent server op can read out going trafic/packets and determine where any hold ups are happening...

This problem is widespread enough that it'd be far easier to trace the problem from the server side than the client side. This is also a persistent problem. It's not like this happened one random time where I lose connection for no apparent reason. It's recurring and often quite easily produced. If Bioware doesn't keep server logs that'd indicate massive ping loss to its players then it's definitely not my concern to provide the logs either. The client logs probably help some, but you'd hope the server also keeps track of who was able to connect and who just got disconnected or at least who you haven't heard from for an unreasonable amount of time.

By no means is this, or any other post, an effort to lay blame or fault on your machines or connections, we merely wish to identify the issue and resolve it as we want you to be in game having as much fun as possible and not frustrated by issues of this nature. I can only stress that in order to investigate this issue effectively, and successfully address it, we do require your assistance in gathering this information.

To go with the analogy I saw previously in the thread, where it is likened to requesting assistance with the repair of a car. In this situation it is more akin to a mechanic attempting to repair the vehicle remotely, requiring the driver themselves to perform all the diagnostic checks and other tests to locate any faults and their cause.

Again, please do provide the information requested as it should only take a few minutes to gather it, we fully appreciate that this issue is very frustrating, the more information we have concerning it the better.

Thank you once again for your co-operation, please see the following spoiler for the aforementioned instructions:

Spoiler
You analogy of remotely trying to fix the car is also not correct. This still imply that it is our machines or ISPs. THIS IS NOT THE CASE SINCE IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE IN THE OPS GROUP AT THE SAME TIME WHEN THEY ARE SPREAD ACROSS NORTH AMERICA.
Been actively reporting SWTOR bugs since July 2011. It's almost a full time job.

Thank you for a great post. I'm not smart enough to know much about network architecture, but this explanation sounds very logical and believable for a lay person.

The Shadowlands Denova lag is out of control:
1) Casts not actually going.
2) Instant dots not being applied
3) Channeled spells are going through the animation but doing no damage. (have to hit a spell 2 or 3 times for it to register and go)
4) and most importantly: GCD's are being eaten despite the damage/healing spell is never actually doing anything.

This isn't problems with peoples computers. Id hate to reference wow, but in this case, they had the same issues. They needed major upgrades to their instance servers in order to hold the stress and erase the lag.

First, could you please try to flush your DNS, instructions on how to do this are in the spoiler below, as well as following the steps outlined in our Connection Issues and Launcher Troubleshooting Guide threads.

either you arent giving out the right command line ( netstat --n --p tcp --b | more ) or im blind. I dont see the line im suppse to ( TCP XXX.XX.XX.XX:** YY.YYY.YYY.YY:* ESTABLISHED
[swtor.exe ) so i cant give you any pathping
tho again in 2 warzones today I have gotten ***** with lag. I want to continue playing this game but its becoming almost impossible. please have some one hit me up in live chat in the game to walk me through this pathping crap
