I belive F2P is what this game needs, so we can see more features rolled out for us to play around with.
- I'd be a happy swtor camper/gamer of/c if EA/BW included this in their monthly sub.
you still haven't explained WHY this game needs to go F2P.

What advantages will the game get?

Free 2 Play destroyed LOTRO for me, despite it being heralded as one of the best F2P models out there and didn't include any pay2win crap.

What happened in LOTRO was they went F2P and, by their own admission, generated a ton of new money. They said that all new money generated would be ploughed back in to the game in order to make it better than it already was.

they lied.

What ended up happening was development started revolving around free 2 play. they started generating much more content for the store and more and more exclusive store content. None of it was "required" for endgame, it wasn't pay 2 win. However, those of us who kept subbing got less content than we were previously. The expansion that they released after F2P was terrible. It took maybe 10-15 hours to play through the new level cap. There were no new group instances and only 1 raid: a 12 man raid with no trash and only 1 boss that was quick to learn and farm.

In short, switching to free 2 play was not just a payment model change for LOTRO, is was an almost entirely new game direction and one that upset and drove off a lot of long term subscribers.

Now, that may have been a good thing for the game as lets face it, it wasn't doing well and appealing to the f2p crowd and the casual "fluff" lovers may well have been the best way to save it. However, for those of us who enjoy AAA endgame focsed MMOs, it was the wrong direction.
Anstalt - lvl 50 valor 81 Shadow Consular

Currently retired due to poor design decisions within the game that have killed its longevity. Get rid of Hickman before he ruins the game completely!

Seldom starts as Pay2Win, but it ALWAYS ends up that way. The incentive to buy needs to be more than "cosmetic" at some point.

Nooooo.

But some of the suggestions you made are all right. I wouldn't mind those things.

you should read the may articles promoting the various f2p models - in it's essence (with this model) we as gamers can buy stuff we want to add to the already existing content and you as a customer can "micro"-manage your gaming experience.

SWTOR will make more money from a subscription based or P2P than F2P. Both DDO and LOTRO are extremely annoying to play since they went to the F2P model. If you can not afford to play, find another game to play like GW2, LOTRO, or DDO.

Yup just another thread where the people with money get all the cool stuff while the poorer people get shafted.... Take your 1% and shove off you are not wanted here.

If I should name the first thing that comes to my mind that would force me to stop playing SWToR, I would say "Free2Play". Sorry, but I am not just rich enough to afford playing free2play games...

For example, look at Everquest II, it turned into f2p model and now you have to pay even for equipping a high level sword or armor piece. Similar goes for DDO - now you have to pay to get access to quests, auction house, race unlocks etc...

If you were to sum up all the money you would have to pay to get the "full version" of the game in f2p model, you would see that you would not have to pay this amount of money even if you payed for 5 years subscription in classic model.

TL;DR: Free2play? No thanks. Nothing to discuss.

That was what the $60 was for. What are you getting for $15 other than access to the game you already paid $60 for? Whatever it is is being offered by plenty of competition for free, which makes it a tough sell in todays market. This isn't 2002 anymore and people are wising up.

You ASSUME EA will introduce a F2P that is similar to any you know, or it has advantages to players.

I don`t trust EA to be anything else than a bunch of greedy suits, so the F2P won`t be as F2P as you think it`ll be. They`ll try to milk us dry = look no further than their reaction to Steam`s prices cut.
