3 Days Left... What Are We Supposed to Do About Transfers?

Hi BioWare.

I understand your desire for us to transfer to (what many of us appear to consider to be) overpopulated servers. Your desire is so strong that you are handing out in-game items that are otherwise worked for to everyone who complies or was just lucky enough to roll on a destination server you chose.

However, I still do not wish to lose characters I have put time and effort into and I still have not seen or heard of any responses to the very simple, yet very important question:

If we already have 8 characters on our forced destination server, what happens to any characters currently on our chosen origin server after the forced move?

You see, I already worked with you in light of the poor choices made regarding server management on launch. I've already accepted the loss of character identity (first and surname) of all 8 of my chosen origin server characters. The damage has already been done regarding a loss of hard earned reputation and guild building. I've already accepted that I no longer care to play my 50s due to several key (to me) issues involved with overpopulated servers I initially tried to avoid. I have no interest in deleting my 50s because things might change in the next couple of years to make playing a 50 more enjoyable. I've already accepted it is often difficult (for me, clearly not the fanboys) to quest lower level areas at times. The fact is, I'm barely hanging on as it is. The very last thing I am going to accept is the loss of a single character. From what I see, we give on the issues important to us. We need some help here because we clearly cannot solve this issue on our own.

We currently have 3 days left to transfer before we "are moved" by you.

What, exactly, are we supposed to do?

Time is running out.

Honestly, paying for the game up front and then paying a subscription fee should be enough of a sacrifice on our part. Clearly it is not. So, what are we supposed give now in order to ensure we do not lose any characters over the next week?

(Edit: I made the mistake of posting an opinion without quoting the source that sparked my opinion. I apologize for that mistake. Just so folks can rest easy and not think I am just pulling things out of thin air, this is where my impression we have 3 days left to make a decision comes from:

I submit to you this auto-message I read this morning should be updated as I found it misleading. Possibly one or two others have as well.

"Don't miss out on your Free Character Transfer Reward! You must transfer your characters by July 30th to qualify for you Free Character Transfer Rewards. If you do not transfer your characters they will be automatically transferred for you and you will not receive your Free Character Trasnfer Rewards."

The lack of "...they will be automatically transferred for you later this summer..." is the cause of this misunderstanding. When I am told X will happen by a specific date and if I do not respond by that date then Y will happen tells me that Y will happen when the deadline for X expires.

To save folks the trouble, Allison responded explaining the posted plan is still in effect. You have until July 30 to transfer your characters to receive the free stuff. A date has still not been announced regarding the forced transfers or where those characters will go. As explained, I simply misunderstood the server message.)

Its happening it 3 days? I dont recall them giving a date other than "end of summer" and summer still has about a month to go.

Oh my I need to start filling the PvE destination servers up with toons just to see what they do ...

Move or be moved...simple as that.

Just to avoid any further confusion, we have not announced a date for automatic transfers at this time. We'll have more details about the process for you as soon as possible, but we definitely have not announced a date as solid as what you're referencing.

I'd also like to point out this post made by Joveth about a situation where you already have the maximum characters on a destination server:

If you don't move them by the 30th they will be forcibly removed, but they didn't say what would happen if the destination server was full. Typical.

As for the OP, my reasons for not transferring were because on my new server, I managed to nab a great legacy name, while my old one had a rather crappier one by comparison, but much higher leveled. I've been trying to get my new legacy to a higher level as for it to not be deleted when they force the transfers, but I got sick of the game eventually, and decided to play it safe and delete every character on my old server in case I decide to resub in the future, however unlikely.

Mistake number 1 - Nothing they have said indicates that the forced transfers start on the 1st of August.

It has been stated that no characters will be deleted so you will not lose any characters. This means that the forced transfers will not be x origin servers to 1 destination server and that is it. It means that it will be x origin servers to 1 destination server followed by any characters still on those x origin servers due to the 8 character limit will go to another destination server, rinse and repeat until the origin servers are empty.

All your characters will still be there and they will all be on destination servers, they just may be on a number of destination servers if you have more than 8 involved.

Are you sure? I remember seeing on the launcher that it was on the 30th, but I might be mistaken!

This is what I have been telling people... glad to see my thoughts were correct.

The 30th is when the transfer rewards promotion ends.. IE: get your free pet and junk.

Yes, definitely sure! As someone else mentions in the thread, the 30th is the cutoff for receiving the in-game rewards, but we have not yet announced a date for automatic transfers.
