Last month i tried a server change and didnt like it, so went back and created a new character on one of the origin servers which was nice and quiet, a few people around but not too many. Then bioware brought in the mandatory server change by 30th july, so i moved again.

Just started a new jedi knight character and tython is streaming with people, 95 people when i left in frustration (how many of those a free players i have no idea) but i started to try and do some of the fleshraiders missions and walked off towards their area only to have a dozen or so people following or in front of me.

As a solo player this is annoying and ruins my enjoyment of the game because as the game is linear people tend to the missons in the same order, but to level up you need to kill stuff (especially on the bonus missions) which is impossible on the server loads which are now being enforced on us.

The first six mobs on the fleshraider path had all been killed, so where is the enjoyment for a solo player in that when its going to take me ages to level up.

Crowded servers are fine for PVP or Grouping but some people like me dont like that and just want to solo, and seeing we are spending the same money we should be given the same consideration.

So please bioware to something to the many solo players that have now had the game ruined by the server changes.
I am a primarily solo player myself and I have to say that being on a more populated server is not as bad as your making out to be. Yes I liked the low populated servers until it got to the point where I was the ONLY person on every planet I went to no matter the time of day I logged in. Also it is fun to do groups every nice in a while I have gotten tired of waiting until I am high enough to go back to a planet and do the heroics alone. I will admit I didnt like the server merger idea. Until I did it and found a server with great people who give you the space when you need it but are there when you need help. From my point of view this is a rant nothing more and shouldnt have been posted at all and this is coming from a person as stated earlier in this post a solo player most of the time.

BW could make non-instanced weak, regular, and strong mobs as well as quest pick-ups respawn a little faster without making a big exploit.

If the OP wants to play a RPG swtor, then I recommend buying and old copy of KOTOR, or some other RPG.
Dude...I at least got what you might have been trying to say. Sub RPG with Solo to get the point here.

SWTOR is a RPG - Role Playing Game. RPG is a genre, most all MMO's (another genre) are MMO-RPG's.
RPG means you create a protagonist and customize said protagonist, lvl said protagonist in a story that develops based on your gameplay decisions. This should sound familiar by now

RPG's were so successful that now you see all sorts of games such as first person shooters with RPG elements.
Now sub solo for RPG in your post and you have a very valid point!

easy to fix, but i am not sure it is a good thing to fix in an MMO.
You have failed me for the last time Admiral Bioware!

I transfered from Hanharr, which is very dead to Jedi Covenant, which is very active and for the first week I felt I made a big mistake by coming to such an active server for the reasons mentioned by op, but really it was that I wasn't used to sharing and hated the idea of waiting for a re-spawn or not being able to take what I wanted because all the mobs were mine. I'm not saying op feels that way, but I'm a mostly solo player also and that was my attitude. I adjusted my play a little and now I enjoy all the activity going on around me. I still solo 99% of the time but I feel more connected to the community on JC and I get my dailys done just as quick because the trash is almost always cleared or if help is needed its right there. On Hanharr I felt I was one of 30 people that plays this game.
Anyway op, just adjust a little and have fun with it, the game is not ruined.

Actually, for the majority of MMO players and even game developers (who don't understand RP or assume RP is just online sex chat), the RPG refers only to you playing the role of a Tank or a Healer or a DPS. That's your role. The customization of the character's background, motivations, etc. isn't even considered because they don't have that kind of imagination.

That's why TSW turned out so flat RP-wise. They didn't consider RP enough. They were just worried about making the roles of Tank, Healer, DPS interchangeable, so they didn't even consider that people might want to make characters based around different concepts with different stories and Role Play them. Hence, altaholism stifled, RP elements left out or muddled and it's all about the raids and the loots.

Someday someone will figure out how to meld these two styles of RPG together and on that day we will have an awesome game that everyone can love. Until then we have to make due with what is available.

Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive.

Edit:

Ha! Read it again and got it! I'm slow, what can I say. Either way I'll leave the link for anyone confused as to what RPG is lol

I agree that many of the servers did not have a high enough population to be fun BUT jamming everyone into 12 servers is NOT the answer. When groups are waiting in line to kill bosses on Ilum & there are 200 people doing Black Hole dailies at the same time, well, that is as bad if not worse than a low population. Instead of eliminating 80% of the servers and packing everyone into the few left like sardines BW should have merged low pop servers by groups of 4-5.
No over crowded servers
No under populated servers
fewer cases of people who have played since day 1 having to change names
1000 fewer threads started by people who hate this "voluntary" server transfer bullsh*t.
Problem solved...

All they need to do is tweak the instancing system. Maybe have certain areas always have at least 2 or 3 instances so people can just jump off to a lighter one right away. SWG had this for one of its expansions. The tech is there, much better than light servers which run the risk of having populations that can't even fill a group finder or warzone. In my experience, the only frequent bottleneck in Black Hole (imp side) is the crates in the AREA quest. That could be helped by faster respawn rates, such as most of the clickables on Ilum, some of which respawn before you've run over to the next one.
