Before you actually START running the flashpoint, everyone should come to an agreement about the cutscenes, rolling on loot, and who's doing what in combat and how.
It saves lots of time later when you aren't dealing with people screaming skip, rolling need on everything, or jumping the gun and getting people killed.
People who just expect strangers off the LFG tool to behave a certain way are the ones who end up disappointed most frequently.
I can agree with that. I don't really care either way what people want to do, as long as they tell me ahead of time.

I would say that skipping the cutscenes is the responsibility of the impatient player. If the answer is no then you can simply leave and find another willing group who wants to skip the cutscenes.

I say this because the group is at the mercy of the person who wants to watch it. While everyone watches the cutscene they are forced to listen to anyone who did skip whine and moan. This is not fair to the group who may not have already seen the story and just want to get enjoy the FP.

I feel this poster is just butt hurt because he can't stand people not hitting spacebar. But the way I see it is if you have seen the story, you should be skipping it regardless (why? it's a good story?) and even if you have not, you should realize that new people aren't welcome here, nor are people who bought this game for story instead of "less QQ moar pew pew."

Two wrongs don't make a right. Treat others the way you want to be treated. This is a community oriented game.
Wow, I barely had to change your quote to say what I wanted to say. Funny how that works.

I think that's totally fair.

Ah yes, put yourself in LFG lockout for 15 minutes(?) just so you can save yourself 5 minutes of cutscenes. If thats the IQ of the healer or Tank then im going to go out on a limb and say the group is better off using a companion or waiting for a better one.

P.S: Ive done D7 with Lt. Pierce as a tank and Mako has healed FE. Hell Ive done Boarding Party and BT without a healer at all. And HMs have only been nerfed since then. Tanks and healers are only really necessary to get the LFG tool group going. Id much prefer a real person, but its well worth the trouble of me micromanaging one of my pets if it means I wont be putting up with the drama queens.

They were HMs BTW.

And the duration depends on the flashpoint. The cutscenes in Esseles nearly double the duration of the flashpoint.

And, again, why watch the same crap over and over and over again? It can't be entertaining after the 20th time. Are you just trying to hide your desire to grief others behind the tale that you love the story so much that you could watch it every day for eternity?

Even after a few seconds of video, we were generously showered with "skip, SKIP FFS" and "SPACE you *******", which always gives other people a nice fuzzy feeling inside.
Now, instead of perhaps trying with "Please, can we skip the cutscenes?", which I would have agreed to, the comments instead convinced me to make it a point to watch every single second of dialogue in the flashpoint, just to annoy those kids. And boy did it ever.

Sadly I've seen this impatient and obnoxious attitude become pretty common when doing flashpoints, as if skipping is viewed as must-do and expected. A lot of people don't expect people to want to watch this stuff, even though BioWare put it there for us to watch. I for one really enjoy this dialogue and watch it when I can, and will continue to do so in flashpoints far more times than just one. These (very well done) cutscenes do represent part of the default game that everyone has paid for. Some people have actually not seen this stuff yet and should be given every chance to. "But its just Black Talon!!! Skip FFS". Doesn't matter what it is, if someone enjoys it, let them watch. You can wait 3 more minutes to finish the flashpoint.

So you guys out there in a hurry for some reason, other people are far more inclined to skip the story stuff for you if you're not being a *ick about it And for those who act like those two kids and wind up in a group with me, bring plenty of popcorn.
Those people certainly sound like the bad Mysterious Eggs in the bunch. Personally, depending on what I feel like doing and how many times I have seen the Cutscene before, I may Spacebar through it, or I may sit back and enjoy the excellent cutscenes BW has provided for us (I especially love the one at the end of False Emperor). I never SPacebar through Class Quest Dialogue unless I had exited the Conversation to make a different choice. I never would yell at anyone for watching a Cutscene. If you ask me, those people should probably be noted by your Guild, so as to avoid problems when grouping with them.

STORY mode.

STORY.
Forcing someone to play your way is rude and selfish and inconsiderate no matter which way you want to state it. They pay for their subscription just as well as you do and you have no rights to force someone to skip the cutscenes whether it is story or hardmode. It is not your choice how they want to do it.

There are also groups that will roleplay the dialogue and yes you can roleplay in flashpoints, heroics and quests.

The better solution is find a group that plays like you do.

This type of behaviour can be the reason why it is sometimes hard to find groups and why people refuse to do PUGS becasue of this.

this might be a good group finder option:
  • [x] will skip (spacebar) dialog
  • [ ] will watch dialog

I'm perfectly happy to do flashpoints with folks who want to see the dialog but I always spacebar in a PUG as a courtesy to others, even if it is my first time through. (I haven't done all the FPs yet as I am primarily a PvP WZ guy).

I am a bad player, so what?

I am feeling inspired to queue up and watch some cut scenes. I will space bar often on my own, but seeing as how some self-entitled folks see it as their undeniable right to skip cutscenes, I will flex my right to watch them.

Until the Spacebar Hammer's Hociety pays for my sub, I will allow any and all who want to watch the cutscenes to do so. If folks put up a votekick to deny someone the cutscenes, I will shoot it down every time.
