Rolling need for your companions in flashpoints, acceptable or loot ninja?

You can only control what you do and make moral decisions on that basis. Since you can't control what others do, especially in a PuG, why bother worrying about it, you'll get better gear eventually.

OtoH, lately with the way the loot tables have been stacked (willpower or endurance, while I am a powertech), I may start "greeding or needing" and I'll sell it...why should everyone in the group get loot except for me?

simple, if grouping to do say; (heroic 2) and your companion is out you may role.. if in dung group and companions are not out, then (no) unless no one needs for main and is agreed upon..

Yes, you can roll need for your companion until I kick you and ignore you.

Thanks for playing.

Until there is a limitation that you can only "Need" for something your character involved in the instance can use, then I think it has to be cleared up before you start the instance.

I agree that the guy was a complete tool, but he is the one who will lose in the long run because he will get a reputation and other players will not group with him.

Oh, and IMO, "Need"ing for an alt is the same as "Need"ing for a companion - if you want the gear for a companion or an alt, then run the instance solo with that companion or use the alt instead.

When PuGing, I tend not to care too much unless I am the group leader, when I esablish player roles (Tank, DPS and healer) and Need/Greed rules before we start. If anyone goes against the Need/Greed rule, I kick them and add them to my guild blacklist, so they will not be invited to the guild and my fellow guildies have a warning that the guy should not be grouped.
I am telling the truth, honestly! I am as honest as the day is long! Besides, I am a terrible liar, everyone can see when I am lying - my lips are moving.
Like most other subs, I have a Referral Link. Clicking it gets you some stuff, and me some stuff too.

I don't need on companions. Those who do will be blacklisted and called out in chat. I have no issue with them grabbing it if no player needs it. That is what greed is for.

How are we supposed to outfit our companions if we guarantee we never win a roll on an item they can use by rolling greed? In my opinion they shouldn't have even put the need/greed system in game. Specially at end game with 5 companions of various types everyone will have a companion that can use anything that drops. They should have gone with a roll/pass system where you either roll on something or pass to allow others to have it.
Mal - Define interesting.
Wash - Oh God. Oh God. We're all gonna die?
Mal - This is the Captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence. So we may experience some slight, turbulence...and then explode.

We need a patch that, when default Need/Greed systems are active in a dungeon or raid, prohibits people rolling need on gear they cannot equip and/or isn't right for their class (ie. heavy armor users are not permitted to roll need on cloth despite the fact they CAN wear it, they just have no reason to do so in combat).

"Need" on a Bind-On-Pickup (BoP) item means "This is an upgrade for my character, on the spec I'm using now". If you have any other reason to roll, at very least one should discuss it with the rest of the group. If nobody rolls for main spec, then people can roll for off-spec, companion etc... and finally to be sold/broken down for crafting. For a Bind-on-Equip, especially a blue/purple/orange etc... either nobody rolls need or everyone does, due to the high chance of financial expenditure.

Some new mechanics for rolling will really help this issue. A 4-tier roll I think would be best.

1st = Need. Everyone rolls need to use for their current character/spec. The game prevents those who shouldn't be rolling on a given item if their class can't/shouldn't use it based on typing. (Not stats - you wouldn't be prohibited on rolling on something with the highest aim bonus just because you use cunning, but you would not be able to roll on cloth as a heavy armor user etc). Equip-able Items won via this method, become bind on pickup regardless of their original parameters

2nd = Need for Offspec/Companion . Should nobody roll Need primary, then another set of rolls are done amongst those that choose this option. Equip-able Items won on this method become bind on pickup regardless of original parameters, to prevent someone attesting they're going to use it for their companion and then tossing it up for auction.

3rd = Greed. For sale, crafting "breakdown" or anything else the third roll set is traditional "greed" rolls. Items are not made BoP when won this way

4th = Pass - if you don't wish to roll for the item at all, you can pass.

A system like this wouldn't totally eliminate people rolling for stuff the shouldn't, but it would help.
