Because the game sacrificed elements that are crucial to an MMO for single player elements that are not. Yes, the stories are much better and the voice over is a massive improvement over reading text, but the end game content and PvP content are both poor in quality and lacking in quantity. The game can't handle more than 16 players in the same area at once without bogging down, and it starts lagging around 10, because the game engine the developers chose to use was in alpha testing and their modified variant of it is broken. The game is so single player focused that even with server mergers there is no real sense of community, and with the broken engine you can't host major events to establish a sense of community. The reason a lot of us don't like the game is that we were expecting an MMO, and what we got was a great single player game with a few multiplayer options.
Edited because the devs appear to have fixed at least 80% of the crap that was pissing me off.

You can't world PvP in this game, the engine is broken and can't handle more than 16 people on the screen at once. Real world PvP is not single player stealth ganking, it starts small and grows until you end up with dozens of people on both sides duking it out. And this game's FPS slows down to single digits whenever that happens.

And OP, if you want an example of how to ask your same question in a constructive manner, and an OP who responds in a considerate manner, check out http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=509081

Didnt like last weeks answer when you asked this?
Or the week before?
Or the week before that?

We seeing a patern here?

Listen, you have been told at least 100 times (that I personally read as replies to you) since you started asking this same question every week, but lets make it 101.

TOR came up short on the expectation list and for many reasons that cant simply be ignored as haters hating.

They got tons of feedback on the forum and in closed beta by players and did none of it

The level curve is insanely easy that many players get bored really fast having nothing to challenge them

There is bugs and exploits in game still visable from closed beta and still not addressed or fixed. (yes every MMO has bugs and exploits but the ones with good reputations go out of their way to fix them in a timely manner).

Some players, its important to them that the game they play is the most popular. I cant tell you why that is , but it is. Thhey are mad TOR didnt live up to its expectations.

PVP is still a session of stun locking and the resolve bar has been buggy since closed beta.

Some people beleive EA favors teh imperials. Personally I dont think they intentionally do but I can see the arguement having played both sides. Imp characters seem to always have that one extra skill or benefit the republic missing.

Some wanted SWG2.0

Many just didnt want WOW in space

The list is to long to write out and you been told all this countless times before by countless other posters.

Perhaps its time to drop this thinly veiled thread designed to insult those who dont agree with you and just let people have their say and be done with it?

Just a suggestion is all.
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

You try to sell this excuse to everyone but no one is buying, nor should they--as I and others have pointed out to you on more than one occasion, BW had plenty of examples, good and bad, to look at and draw from. Not only that, but they probably did quite a number of focus groups to get input on what gamers wanted in a "new" mmo yet after over 5 years in development and 2 delayed releases the released game was nowhere remotely close to what was promised...your defense is woefully inadequate

Ok. So if it's short on the expectation list and people don't find it appealing as other mmos cause they can't do the things in other mmos, why are they still here? And yes, it is as easy as leaving. If you can't leave, then don't just come back and bash on the forums. Just enjoy w/e other game you want.

Let's get some things straight here.

I haven't asked a question like this in a long time. So stop with the trying to feel superior talk and stick to the facts. I just wish people played the game and didn't TRY to look for bugs so they can complain. Whatever happened to people playing the game for fun and not trying to find every single thing wrong with it so they can get attention on game x's forums? That's my point here. Why can't people just give constructive criticism instead of railing on the game?

It's funny because every post I ever see you make is about the "bashing" going on. You create thread after thread dedicated to the same individuals you have a problem with.

Good try! But I hope you know sir that most of my posts are about feedback and in the suggestion box and how TOR is a great game and giving constructive criticism to the efforts in hopes that the game continues to get better. But nice try
