Why do people hate this game?

How many threads are you going to create that questions people's feelings on this game? You'd think you would've learned by now that you are dealing with a decent amount of people and not just one or two. Jealousy? What made you make that claim? That's a better question. Who here has ever been jealous of a video game?

You also mistake criticism for bashing. People are mad that they are investing money in something that isn't up to the standard in mmo's. It's easy to understand that. Why you choose to turn a blind eye to it is beyond me.

This game has a lot but it also lacks a lot. From an RP perspective this game is terrible, it doesn't help immersion whatsoever. The "planets" are actually rather small. You travel to a huge planet and you are kept in this fenced in area with about 0 adventuring. The scenery never changes, its a static world no matter where you go.

I love the storyline I will give Bioware all the credit in the world for making a great storyline for the classes, but the world's they are set in are dull and boring. You run into guys shooting at each other, and kill one side, the other side is still shooting...you did absolutely nothing. Little things like this make immersion possible, and when it's lacking it takes a toll on people's personal experience in the game: not everyone has problem with it, true...but it's definitely not just a couple people who cringe at these types of things.

It's a good thing that people get on these forums and talk about the issues. It truly is. Why? Because Bioware is new to the MMO scene, and even tho this is only a portion of the population, it is the vocal one. And how else do you expect Bioware to learn what they need to focus on if people didn't tell them? Are they just going to guess? No..that's how they came out with where we are at today. Sorry but it's the truth.

I had a feeling Tor would not get a fair a shake when it launched, that allot of people would bring lots of baggage to this game, plus so many people had hyped themselves to a point no matter how good Tor would have been it would not have met those expections.

Look over all, Bioware, the maker of quaility top selling single player RPG's, Star Wars, loved the world over by many generations of gamers and movie goers, huge budget. You would think this was a win win for everyone. Even if it was Bioware's first mmo.

One thing I see in allot of in posts is that the game brings nothing new to the mmo genre outside of some great story telling. maybe the fact allot of people expected Tor to be some sort of next gen miracle game, brought the worst out in some folks..
For a new game there is allot to do at end game, problem is it is just copy and paste end game activities that almost all current mmo's have, nothing new and again a big let down for expections.

I dunno just a thought

I think they hate it because they feel let down and want their money back.

I dont hate the game Sarfux...

The game has design flaws due to Bioware noob decisions.

1. Customizing appearance should NEVER be a money sink.

2. For a story based MMO this game has a ton of grinding

3. Most recently, the relics issue

4. Jedi Knight robes still give body types 1,2 and 4 big butts

5. The whole set bonus is on the shell of the armor not the armor mod till you get campaign. But if you use the campaign armor mod you lose out on your primary stat

6. LAG since merger, even worse for me after todays patch

You sound as though everyone should just be completely happy with the game and never complain or they are to be considered angry, jealous and/or confused.

So maybe I am just misunderstanding what you mean by "hater".

Notice how I never said hater in my post. Now that that's out of the way.

How can you be confused? There are NOTHING BUT posts here going "this game sucks, i hate it" "fix blah blah, this sucks" or "unsubbing cause of so so" and the people the deliberately stay on the forums just to get the kick out of screwing around with other people. THATS insane. That's what I'm talking about. Spreading false crap around and making it seem like it's true when it's not, bashing the game left and right. You don't like it, we get it. Plus all the people that make "gw2 is better, see ya morons" and stuff like that? What's with that?

I can't explain it any clearer than that.

By the way, when people read forums, I have a STRONG feeling a lot of people don't read past the 3rd line because it's too long for them. Never said hater. The post below me did. But I didn't. Pay attention!

This is their first mmo and they are learning. It's a very good game that doesn't deserve the bashing it's getting by some people. If people don't like it, move on. But somehow they get off on causing trouble.

You do know they have people on the team from Mythic right? You know, the ones who made one of the best PvP MMOs ever... DaoC

A lot of people at Bioware have tons of MMO experience.

TOR has issues and I wouldn't challenge that.

That said, I am slowly coming to the conclusion that the problem is, in many instances, starting to lie between the keyboard and the chair.

I've been playing GW2, for example. It's the current game that's being held up to be the 'amazing game of the century'....as was SWTOR, as was Diablo 3, as was Age of Conan, as was Secret World, as was Rift. And yet GW2's forums are...starting to look just like these ones....

There is this issue of people holding something to a ridiculously high standard and then throwing all the toys out of the pram when the game doesn't reach their lofty goals. I KNOW SWTOR came out 7 years after WoW. But when WoW was released - with all its bugs, with hour long queues, with one poor server that was never up (Broken Blade, anyone?), with boss encounters that would bug out after a single attempt (hi Vaelstrasz) - no one cared.. I remember getting compensated for a week for one month where the servers were as instable as hell. We just played the game and loved what we could, bugs and all.

Here? When I see people whining about 5-10 minute long queues, I think of the days I'd come home from work, log onto WoW, and wait two sodding hours before I could get onto my server. And I laugh, at how terribly impatient and demanding today's generation has come.

People had a lot of high expectations for this game, especially fans of the KOTOR games. That and there have been so many BAD star wars games released in the past. I think gamers have become a bit jaded. They demand perfection and its impossible to find but they still expect it. I think the game itself is fine. Its not ground-breaking, but its fun. If it was a single-player game it would be amazing. As an MMO though, I dunno. MMO gamers are a different breed. They look at these games like they are a job or an addiction. And you'll never, EVER please them. I think this game should have been single-player KOTOR 3 and maybe throw in some multi-player maps. It would have been epic.

I read your whole post Sarfux. Why are you being so condescending?

Ok, so even though your post is titled "Why do people hate this game?", you don't like that I asked what your definition of a hater is. A little sensitive tonight hey? Ok, then, let me re-word that to "What is your definition of people who hate this game?". Feel better now?

Anyway, it seems apparent you are mad at haters... oops, sorry "people who hate the game".

lol! How can I not have some fun at your expense when you respond like that to my polite question?

Anyway, there are already some good responses in this thread as to why people complain about the game, so I'll leave it at that, as it is apparent you are really in no mood to discuss things in a considerate manner tonight.
