I want a gameplay where stats are something that you allocate manually each level. You get X points and distributes them between Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma. Equipment should add a bonus to your stats, but not more then 10-15% of the total amount.

This would be more difficult to balance. It would also alienate a lot of people very quickly without actually opening up new avenues of customisation; it would purely be a maths test for a player with unique choices simply punishing the player with worse performance. Talent trees were suppose to answer this problem but even they have be boiled down to a handful of cookie cutter builds per class. Attaining real player choice is difficult and you've just made it nigh impossible.

I want huge planets! I want to fly out over Tatooines deserts for hours and feel like i'm truely lost, and at the same time it would create a need for really fast speeders then the crap we have now. I was racing my speeder against someone level 20-something before he got a speeder and the speed difference was just so painfully small! It never felt like i was on a speeder, but more like a Segway.

So you want bigger planets that take hours to cross...yet you're tired of spending hours on your speeder on Tatooine? I don't think you've thought this through.

having said that, I do find the environment designs in SWTOR have some flaws. They are mostly to do with my personal preferences however.

I want free flight. When i leave a planet i want two options; One is to pull up the Galaxy Map as usual, punch in the destination and away we go. The other is to go explorer in freeflight mode. Find new starsystems (Created via a Random System Generator or something) and sometimes theres a small sidequest, sometimes theres just a nice view and other times there are nothing at all. I want to be able to gather a bunch of friends and travel in free flight to the Republic Fleet and try to beat all the republic players and their NPC defences and getting my ***** handed to me (There should be a Safe Area around the main station in the fleet, where players exiting the fleet can jump to hyperspace and avoid the attackers, but with a battle countdown, so you couldn't abuse it during dogfights).

They are working on this, but you do realise that you are asking them to make what is a completely distinct stand alone game for no additional cost? this would at the very least have added years to the development time for something not everyone needs.

I want a system where you have Heroic Classes like the classes we have now. You should be limited like we are today in that you would only be able to create 9 (See below for reason to 9) Heroic Class Characters and, as a new limitation, only one of each class. On the side of that, i want a Standard Class system, where you create a pilot, farmer, crafter, weaver or something small in the galaxy-wise. These Standard Classes shouldn't be limited in the same way as Heroic Classes and should in a small chance be able to, when reaching max level in his or her crafting skill, start a Heroic Class. During the Heroic Class leveing the crafting skills are locked away, but the character retains them again when the Heroic Class reaches max level. Then that character would become a Heroic Crafter and create exceptional equipment, with his or her name on it.

Having farmer and crafter classes goes against the story driven aspects of this game. it seems odd to have an entire class just for crafting when your heroic one can just craft or send his companions. There are crafting focused MMO's on the market if you care to look

I want ALL equipment to be a shell for apperance and then mods to add bonus stats. I never want to have to wear an ugly piece of equipment, simply because the stats are better.

Given the wide range of custom gear sets in SWTOR I don't see this as a valid point.

I want player housing. If we get those huge and vast planets, like Tatooine, we should be able to fill it up with player houses. Appartments should be available for rent in Dromund Kaas and Corusant. There should be social hubs on all planets, but the biggest should be in each factions main planet.

player housing is a tricky thing because you need space for it. SWG achieved this by making their planets barren wastelands of copy paste textures, personally I prefer detailed environments of WoW and TOR to SWG

I want a third faction! I want Smugglers and Bounty Hunters to team up with a new Mercenary Class and make a new Hutt Faction (Or something like that) So that each faction has Three Heroic Classes (Refer above for Heroic Class)

Hmm I think this is something that got discussed and rejected early during design. It's definitely in one of the interviews.

I want to be rid of the cursed "Bind-on-Pickup/Equip/Account" hell! I want to be able to trade my equips freely after having tried them out and seen the design. With the Companion system everyone can "Need" on any piece of equipment anyway.

This would kill the gear progression and players would have no reason to complete ops because they can just buy the best gear off the GTN.

I want a new Companion system, where you have three Sets of skills for each companion Tank, DPS or Healer. I don't want to have my Healer out, when i'm romancing my DPS Apprentice! I want my Romanced Healer Apprentice out ALL. THE. TIME!!
This MMO already has the most intricate pet system of any MMO. I love gearing my companions. As far as I am aware, they already have some stance based methods of changing a characters role somewhat, but I agree they could do more.
There you go! THIS is what i want.

While all your ideas are valid, they aren't exactly genius either. Bioware have probably run all these idea's through their design process, but sometimes the reason you don't see these kind of things is because they don't work in practice.

Furthermore, there are a lot of people with conflicting opinions about which features are "essential to be successful". Some people want action combat like TERA, some people want player housing and in depth crafting like FFXI, SWG, EVE and AOC, some people want another WOW, some people want a wire hooked in their brain so they can be more fully immersed. The problem right now is that everyone expects SWTOR to tick all the boxes because it's Star Wars, when in reality it has to conform to at least some kind of forumla.
...and would you exchange
a walk on part in a war
for a lead role in a cage?

Well, the people that wanted a WoW away from WoW certainly got what they wanted.

And yes, we are aware that not every MMO can completely break the mold and remake the genre, but at least some of them are attempting new things, rather than roughly tracing over someone else's vision and calling it your own, which is what BW has done on this project.

I don't care how many ways you argue it (there aren't many) but at the end of the day, it boils down to the fact that they didn't even try to create a unique product in SWToR, they simply cut too many corners and copy pasted far too many ideas from other games (mainly just one) to create something that doesn't already feel like you've been playing it for the last 10 years. You can only follow someone else's formula so far before it becomes obvious that you're walking in their footsteps and never straying.

YES!!! I want this game, too! With all of your ideas, though, third faction is best. As it is BH storyline has almost NOTHING to do with Empire. Who says the Republic couldn't hire BH anyway? Is there some law that says BH are "bad guys?"

This is so hilarious that anyone is giving this credence.

Some random dude who claims he works at Bioware convinces a ninth rate blog that he is in fact a insider, SWTOR's amazing community is so enraptured with any bit of negativity that the swallow it hook, line and sinker.

I blame the anonymous insider for the current state of the game. *sticks out tongue*
Date Joined: March 2009 - Date unsubbed: 9/18/2012
It's been real but the game just wasn't worth the sub for me anymore.

Regardless of the truth about the insider Bioware have missed the mark. I enjoy aspects if the game but it lacks the charm and character of SWG, WoW or EVE. Everything is very easy and handed too you. Does anyone really feel a sense of achievement? I find even when exploring I can just avoid 90% of the mobs.

I do think they now would have to change so much to turn things around it would be too expensive/change the game too radically to succeed. As someone else said KOTOR with a sub just won't hold people for years.

I feel sad the game I was so excited about and could have been something I would play for years appears to have been a mirage. I will give it 6 months more because I want it to succeed, here goes nothing!

What kills me is that they claim they listened to the players, and that's why the game failed. Huh? Did I just read that right? They didn't listen to a damn thing we said.

Players wanted Sandbox, we got restrictive Themepark. Players asked for 3D Space...we got...more rails. Rails on the planets, rails in space, rails on missions. Story line for Juggernaut is the exact same as the story for Marauder. The Warrior's ship is the exact same as the Inquisitors.

I love this game...I really do, the story and combat is what keeps me here. But kicking back and looking at this game, it looks like something that was just thrown together ASAP.

They did not listen to a damn thing the players told them.

That is one thing I am glad about. I hate time sinks that force you to fight every three feet because mobs are unavoidable. That's one thing they did right.

I just wanted KotOR III. TOR is now what I'm dealing with.

That's something I really dislike. I hate queueing up for a Flashpoint and then ending up skipping half of it. If it's Taral V, then you can skip about 75% of it. I just don't find that fun. I'd much rather fight the enemies than come up with weird ways to avoid them.
