So i keep seeing all these tattoos off people getting the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire tattoo. But the Empire is always blue. i've never seen that in the movies. did i miss that or is it shown somewhere else? or are they doing it just to contrast the red of the Rebels?

The official one is black.

The rebels use red and blue.
"I was one of many. We were servants of the dark side… Sith Lords, we called ourselves. So proud. In the end we were not so proud. We hid… hid from those we had betrayed. We fell… and I knew it would be so."

I think where the red and blue come from is the video gaming community.

Historically any multiplayer game will feature one team red, one blue.
Since the rebels are usually default red, that makes the Empire blue.
I guess black wouldn't show as well on the mini maps and such.
